I think @Lupus's theory does hold and above Stage 6 you don't really gain, you lose out, so probably harsher on industries rather than higher stages. Also, anything higher than 6 would be a new low for voters, I think.

That is called LC. The harshest they have is stage 4 and we are already there. So I’m not sure how that works then.

One difference with demand driven spikes is that they tend to be concentrated in the evening (and morning) peaks. Imposing stages 7-9 will indeed produce diminishing returns, but would most likely spread demand, so that we would be consistently on stage 6 or higher. We would no longer have the recent 'luxury' of dropping down to stage 4 during the daytime.

I think it’s because maintenance is being done. Randpark ridge was out of power all day due to maintenance. 8-4pm.

The City of Cape Town traditionally doesn't do scheduled maintenance if load shedding is higher than stage 2.

But I think with all the non-stop, high-level load shedding these past several months, they are now forced to do planned maintenance and have to leave certain zones on, so they can work on scheduled areas within that zone.

Probably explains why zones in CT are now often being skipped re. LS, whereas this was never previously the case.
