There has been times where they have purposely put us off with the wrong block and time. Though I welcome a reduced schedule, if they can't follow the current one which pretty simple. I can't wait to see how they handle a more jumbled mess.

Through history society has marked the passing of time in different ways. Today stating that a season/year/month starts on a specific date is the way we do it now. Nothing to get into a huff about.

So just for a point of clarity... You may THINK you're in a certain block, but there are circumstances and events that may mean your portion of the network has had to be moved to a different block due to network faults etc. I had a long conversation with the guys in eThekwini about it, and its the way the network is structured that a fault in some area may mean others on the same circuit get inadvertently shifted to a new "block". There is no way that the city can keep complete track of it and communicate it to all residents.

Seemingly not. I'm sure large businesses are also considering installing huge inverter/battery setups too now. Paying to run a generator for nearly 12 hours a day every single day doesnt add up when you can just pay once off to install an inverter.

Wouldn't surprise me if Eskom pushes for the sale of inverters to be banned unless they're also sold with solar panels.

Makes no difference. I have 12 panels and I have and do charge from the grid when needed. For example, when there are extended power outages in the area, I'll set the setup to always charge as soon as grid is back in the evenings. Also on days where you have a lot of cloud cover (Like last week) I charge from the grid when solar is not enough.
