And winter is still coming.View attachment 1529553
Wow 27.5.... Demand is up though
I just used esp.And now tomorrow I get to see if I'm really in the group the new Durban load-shedding map says, or if I'm in the one I think I'm supposed to be in, because if it's the one on the map then my area never gets load-shed until stage 7/8.
And winter is still coming.
@Priapus must be squirming. Some of that 'extra' demand is definitely due to load-shifting. The peak will be even higher with Stages 7 & 8 [if we hit that]. It would be interesting to see the peak from last year at this date. That 34GW is super-high.

The map has been wrong for my area for years.I just used esp.
I've don't use the map as it sucks. Had the same issue when I stayed in glen park a couple of years ago.The map has been wrong for my area for years.
Nah I’m not convinced we will go above S6. Yet.@Priapus must be squirming.
And it wasn't even that cold in JHB

Joburg’s City Power weighs plan to shed outages
Eskom's load shedding is destroying profits and jobs in small businesses.t.co
Johannesburg’s City Power is in talks with Eskom to reduce outages.
City Power officials have proposed that the duration of blackouts in Johannesburg, home to more than five million people, be cut to two hours at a time to help businesses cope, spokesman Isaac Mangena said in an interview on Tuesday.
Authorities are also discussing alternative sources of energy supply, including solar and gas, as well as initiatives including converting street lights to solar power, he said.
Bookmarked.Nah I’m not convinced we will go above S6. Yet.
I hate to break it to you, but it's not the map that's wrong. Durban is just backward. The map has been wrong for my area for years.
When they using almost all of them it tells me they are desperately trying to keep the illusion going. They would rather bankrupt themselves burning diesel and wash hands with 25 year old whiskey than to raise the stage another level.Agreed.
I'm still convinced there's regularly some sort of smoke-screen - the way OCGTs usage widely jumps up and down yet we keep a "steady" stage 4 to 6 emergency level.
One thing that does explain it clearly - ANC
