A politician is a politician, some are just less bad than others.
To quote Douglas Adams.
"Anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job."
That sounds like ANC or EFF, I mean have you seen the Muppets they have??

EDIT: Full quote

“The major problem—one of the major problems, for there are several—one of the many major problems with governing people is that of whom you get to do it; or rather of who manages to get people to let them do it to them.
To summarize: it is a well-known fact that those people who must want to rule people are, ipso facto, those least suited to do it.
To summarize the summary: anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job.”

Now imagine a world where people were all left to manage and control themselves :whistling:

I am in no way a nut libertarian
I am. :giggle:

and believe in government and that it can do good and often does.
Only to the degree it is self-government, can any government produce more than it consumes. But all States grow in scope, and always at the expense of the individual, as part of their nature.

This is the flaw in the mixed- or middle-of-the-road- economy fallacy.

Just out of the 60 million odd you'd think we'd be able to find a better crop.

The incentives are perverse though. Whatever you reward in life, you get more of, right? So, offer subsidies at the expense of the unwilling... you're rewarding people for living at the expense of others.... that's what you are going to get more of.... and more, and more... until you're in debt way over your head, you're all lying to yourselves about what caused the problem, and your government is trying to invite as much chaos to deflect from the problem on its watch.

This is the story of Western civ' from the 14th century to 2023.

So the East is okay then?

/runs
The East never developed the idea of the individual being primary, in law, such that an emerging middle class was in a position to turn the tables on the minority of authoritarians.

This was unique to the West. At least for a brief time - around 80 years - in the US.

It ended at the War for Southern Independence, when Lincoln committed treason, as he murdered 350,000 US citizens for leaving the voluntary union.

The US never recovered. It was an effective coup for the same ilk who lost the revolutionary war in 1776.

I very much feel now there is talks about changing the electoral system, bring back Constituencies which I think isn't really going to do much to help.
Party list system is still a better option.

But I would say moving to a rank choice system would settle down the populist and make parties have to serve a wider scope of people, now that the ANC isn't winning land slides and the DA can't hold man coalition together for more than a month it would bring stability.

I think it must be coming from Mars... Cause how does it take this long? Though we have suspicions it was taken by Eagle Canyon who mysteriously had a mini station installed yesterday after only being off a few days.
The larneys shall eat first...

@Lupus, I will be back in SA next week, when I have settled I will see if one of my contacts still works at CP, will give him a call and tell him to try and do something about that situation. I haven't spoken to him since I moved to CT 7 years ago but maybe, just maybe.
FYI - returing to slaapstad, with generator and Sunsynk, a worker bliksemed through the tiles so when that's sorted the panels can be connected and Eskom can go get rekt.
When I am unpacked I will start with the monitoring project, so that we can somehow get the truth out of Eskom's constant spew of lies
Come back to SA next week, settle and then check to see if the City Power acquaintance is still there?

Did you get the part where he is already two weeks without power or am I being rude to expect a little bit of urgency?

Yeah so latest update... Basically no eta, no cooking clue. Went right to the HO and they don't even know what is cooking. I am so glad I've got the solar, the gas and the generator

It's Paul, he's a bit out of it normally.
