Lets see the graphs this afternoon.Hmm smells fishy
They didn't add the 20 gas turbines getting us to 27...
Their plan is probably make things look fine this week then Cyril can brag how everything is under control and then boom Friday
"we have implemented stage 5 loadshedding"
There aren't any new Medupi units, there is one that blew up that is taking till next year to fix. Kusile might have had one unit come online. One of the new Medupi units must have come online
Saturday was also over 27GW, if they had added all 20 Eskom OCTGs + the IPP we'd not have had load shedding during the weekend.Hmm smells fishy

Unit 5 seems quite popular.Unit 5 only to come online in December this year: https://www.engineeringnews.co.za/a...n-at-kusile-unit-5-by-up-to-a-year-2022-10-19
Units 5 and 6 of Kusile are set for June and November this year: https://www.powermag.com/chimney-failure-takes-out-unit-at-kusile-one-of-worlds-biggest-coal-plants/
Remember reading that only 1 or two of the units were running, so one or all of 1 through 4 must have come on? I don't see anything else that could have added so much capacity.Unit 5 only to come online in December this year: https://www.engineeringnews.co.za/a...n-at-kusile-unit-5-by-up-to-a-year-2022-10-19

Stuff magical starts working when RAMAPOPO need to speak.Yes, only 1/4 at Kusile are actually running. Other 3 are out of commission although Eskom is trying to make temporary adjustments to the units so that they can come online faster, however, Eskom penned that at Dec. 2023 as well. But I'm also confused by the substantial increase in generating capacity.
That's Kusile unit 5, Medupi unit 5 went online in 2016, it was unit 4 that blew up in 2021 and is going to be fixed in 2024.Unit 5 only to come online in December this year: https://www.engineeringnews.co.za/a...n-at-kusile-unit-5-by-up-to-a-year-2022-10-19

Is there a new coal station they have been hiding under the sheets for a rainy day or something?!
Yes, it's a no brainer. I would have done this in 2007.What happens when you incentivise people to move their load away from peak periods?
Irrelevant to this threadLOL!!!

Why do you say that? That's the highest available generation capacity for many months
