Just had my inverter and batteries installed today. YAY!!!! Was so excited that I vacuumed the house during load shedding!!!
Panels only end of May. Fingers crossed.
Have had mine since May, panels went up in June, man just in time cause of all the freaking shedding.

Just saw a missed email from this afternoon, 5 to 6 weeks for replacements of the inverter and the faulty panels and installer says he will prioritize my install when components are in. Juuust in time for the apocalyptic winter heading our way

time to fill up gas bottles 200lt petrol for genny on standby. trust you prepped

Grid voltage quite low after returning from load shedding. First time I’ve seen it dip below 220 at my place.

That's not low, low is 200. I've seen it at 210 to 220 after load shedding, it normally goes back to 220 to 230ish after a bit. Hardly ever see the voltage at 240 in my area

I’ve had 180v for a bit. So yeah anything above 200 is “fine”

Eskom caught lying again

Eskom’s latest EAF date, shared by electricity minister Dr Kgosientso Ramokgopa, shows that age is not a big factor in breakdowns and poor performance.

  • Three of the newest power stations – Kusile (37%), Majuba (48%), and Kendal (47%) – have some of the worst EAF of all plants in Eskom’s fleet.
  • Eskom’s oldest power stations – Camden (70%) and Grootvlei (90%) – have some of the best EAF of all plants in Eskom’s fleet.
The EAF data further showed that Tutuka (26%), rife with corruption and mismanagement, has a much worse EAF than other power stations of the same age, like Letabo (74%) and Matimba (75%).

@Lupus

So, my run of 6+ months o no LS in my area came to an abrupt end yesterday. We're shedding per the schedule again.

Neighbours are not happy - I wanted to tell them "Welcome to the rest of RSA - they've been suffering - now its our turn"

Thankful for solar and batteries.
