There are warnings on the gas heaters that it can be poisonous in a small closed room. There's a white powdery substance that builds up at the top of the unit after long usage.
Personally - just breathe through my nose more :- )

I grew up on a farm pre Electricity era.... yes I am old but also we only got power late 1980's / early 1990's

We used Gas for cooking, heating and refrigeration.
Pretty sure I am not dead yet ;)

As long as you keep the room ventilated you are ok from Carbon monoxide poisoning

I'm no youngster either... used to use coal, then anthracite when polution first became a worry, then electric, and since gas for at least 15 years. Some gas cooking too but we're microwave-lazy.

I've smelt the heater sometimes, then just fan the room for a minute or two with passage door open. Seems to do enough.

The odor is artificialy added and there to warn of leaks. If you did not use gas its an indicator that you gotto look for leaks.

On the subject of not using it: From young, it was drummed into me that if you not using it, close on both end, always, and yes as a child I got a couple of hidings for forgetting that rule.

They will put their big industrial consumers on Stage 4 or whatever loadshedding to avoid anything higher than Stage 6 if at all possible.

And the rest of us on Stage ... aaah F it, no power for you.

Kya Sands be down since 8 this morning, power will be back when we go home like normal.
