Looks likely that we are going to be breaking the mythical stage 7 barrier Monday/Tuesday... Congratz? :confused:
The minister of home affairs will be ramping up the pressure to go solar. I suppose it is time. :(
 

Seen this alot in the past few weeks....where Eskom's generation capacity is close to demand. In years gone by, the difference in the quoted post wouldn't put us close to Stage 5. I think I saw one a few weeks ago when Eskom generation capacity was around 27500MW and above demand but we were still on level 3 or some kak.

It could be because of the OCGT's and pumped storage. They can't rely on those for base load and they have been increasingly used for that.

Those aren't included in the base load capacity, hence why he lists them differently
 
Demand should fall a bit from the 16th due some companies closing for the year. But maybe that will be offset by a ramp up in planned maintenance. It's worrying we have stayed at around 25MW since Friday.

Yes, I would have expected some capacity to come online over the weekend and yesterday.
