Its a funny one

People with solar such as myself are used to having zero power cuts.

When loadshedding wasn't around I would happily run solar at day and batteries at night.

Now one has to protect against it and im actually keeping my batteries at 100% which means im using more eskom as opposed to when we didnt have loadshedding
Should have gone off-grid from the start, or off-SA.

We all know how this story plays out, look at all the other SOE's. We get near blackout, government wastes a few more billion on a last ditch attempt which obviously fails, then its full privatisation time. Its probably better going this route sooner instead of dicking everyone around forever.

So which SOE`s have gone full private after failing? SAA? Who knows wtf is going in there! Sold it off but tax payers still owe. Eskom will never be privatized.

Non that I know of but at least the private sector could take the controlling stake

Who in the private sector has the capitol to take over Eskom with all its debt and red tape? We are fortunate that the Chinese does not have money at this stage....

And how do they do that? Will never happen. You are on your own, stop thinking something is going to save Eskom.
Look at how out of control things are at Eskom. You think our government can contain that beast? Far more likely it gets acquired by other parties.

I just don't see Eskom being privatized in any universe, short of it being repossessed by creditors lol. If it goes private, power costs will increase significantly, making electricity unaffordable for probably like 80% of the country, and if we thought the riots a while back in KZN were bad... Yeaahhhhhh...

People also keep drawing a comparison to SAA, and honestly, I'd call the privatization of SAA a failure. The consortium hasn't been able to raise funds because nobody in their right mind would fund that mess.

Also, something to mention, is that everyone who has mentioned privatization (Yelland, Blom et al) actually has **** all of a plan for what follows. Privatize? Then what? The biggest problem in the Eskom mess is that nobody actually knows what the hell to do.

If Poeskom goes private.. the first thing that any private company will do is cut the freeloaders. That means Soweto will be cut. If they do that, civil war will probably break out.

Will never happen, and besides, its a useful political tool to control the comrades.

Self generation is the way. The only way

Yeah, only for those with the cash.. as they do in Zimbabwe, until someone tries to steal your generator
I mean, that's literally why I'm making plans to leave. What's the point of keeping the lights on, water from your borehole, etc, if the cell towers don't work, the grocery store shelves are empty, etc...

Generation is starting to look somewhat healthy again

Hopefully, the duct tape holds for a bit this time

In January they will announce the start of the NHI, them we will start having health-care shedding.

Self generation is nice, but since not everyone can afford one, everyone will suffer at the end.
I mean you and your business might have a generator / solar etc etc, but since your customers will not have jobs and money, your business will go down the drain regardless.
