Exactly. What "maintenance" are they doing if the "maintained" plants cant stay operational a week?

This is not maintenance. Its just quick fixing breakdowns.
There's sabotage as well. But impossible to say what the current bigger picture is as there's so little or reliable info given by them.

I grew up in Jozi... The power cut business was a regular deal, in fact I bought my first UPS in 2006.
Why?
Because Shitty Power are that fcked up.
Much of Roodepoot was already crumbing then, and then when I bought my first house in Little Falls we got to learn all about the "rotational loadshedding", especially the day I found out about it when my newborn child was suffering, me unable to warm his bottle because the bastards came to the substation to cut the power. I confronted them at the substation and that's where it was revealed to me that they were doing the loadshedding to avoid what I would later learn was "avoidance of exceeding maximum notified demand"
You talk such ****, I grew up in weltevreden park and was in little falls / strubens valley every day. I was there from 1983 through to to 2015 and power cuts were rare if ever. A burnt cable is hardly the end of the world, cables burn out for numerous reasons. You most likely had one interruption and now claim it was all the time. You have a habit of twisting facts to suit your bs.

It was bad due to crazy development, we were one of the first houses in weltvies it was just farmland as far as the eye could see within about 3/4 years it was construction everywhere. Parts of north riding still struggle, obviously I rarely feel load shedding and we did have an extended outage the other day. But they have be laying new cables for the load. It has definitely gotten better.

I am frustrated and angry and Eskom cannot care. 2023 is going to be an f.uckup. No business can function and we will soon and very soon see how millions of unemployed people react to this situation. Do our government honestly believe they are doing a good job? For f.uck sake it is on the news, coal is being stolen and taken out of the country, and there is corruption inside Eskom to such a degree that it is safe to say that Eskom is run by a crime syndicate.

Their blindness will result in our Country hitting Zimbabwe's status and once that happens nothing can save this country. At that point, we are royally f.ucked. We are heading towards hell in a handbasket. Once the skills drain is concluded we will see a money drain, once that is concluded all that is left is poverty for everyone that wasn't on the take.

Let's see how our government deal with an entire population when none of us has jobs.

Nothing will happen. The anc doesn't care. The people dont care. Their tribal chiefs are in power and that is all that matters. Settle in for the ride or emigrate

Those are your options

Yeah I know, my dad moved in to Northriding in 88, it was his housing development, Banbury crossing restaurant/pub across from that was a dodge old Spar and video store that occasionally had stuff.
So for shopping he either went to the 14th Avenue OK (Checkers now) or Cresta, there used to be a massive video store down Beyers Naude as well

So whats the odds its all going to be the same scheduling for NYE?
They have the control they need to do same as for Xmas, which will keep the masses quiet for a while.

All boils down to diesel right now, which is costing the anc too much (iow actually costing us), but for this they'll do it. Then they'll go back to pocketing the money available for diesel, so will cost us anyway and industry will be destroyed further.

Its over the weekend during low demand so should be easy for them to do. I also doubt they will be able to do much maintenance on that weekend as most boilermakers I know are quite keen on their drink.

The people do care, but think they're powerless to make any change. The anc know they have to satisfy the people, their voter base has been disintegrating too much.

So some are trying. But it's become a huge mountain.

Ok let me rephrase. People care because they are being impacted.

People don't care enough to revolt or force change

Its cultural see...
Saffas are ingrained (well most of the ones who actually pay for power are) with the mentality that one has to keep quiet and just take it.
That's the reason why the ANC can continue to keep pushing boundary upon boundary.

The voters don't care, they have what they want.. which is land and being led by a chief.
