Nope, does not exist currently in Cape Town.

I am fortunate enough to own a PV system in Cape Town. I have not paid a single R to the COCT relating to my PV system in the two years of ownership.

You made the statement that Cape Town has a solar tarrif/tax but seem unable to support it with fact. Then you change the argument to PE vs Cape Town. This actually has no relevance as municipal fees throughout RSA is different between each major metro and how exactly this then suddenly is suppose to contribute to the debate about administrative charges for PV systems is just bizarre.

And another gem: CoCT is using tax money to fly planes over houses to take photos to track solar systems and fine those or disable the unregistered systems. This does not happen in PE.

Some would call this governance and oversight of the regulations and rules. Given the state of PE we know it does not happen there.

But, still no registration fee or solar tax in there.

You do realise this is a GOOD thing right?

Ignoring the planes bullshit you got off some conspiracy WhatsApp group it’s a good thing that systems are registered and checked for being up to code so that you don’t electrocute some poor service technician or blow your neighbours house up.

Worse still did you know they restrict your kW output when feeding back? I’m guessing you didn’t but now that you do it must also be a terrible thing right?

You can do it yourself, it definitely is an option if time isn’t money to you.

The installers use a third party who does this for them as it takes months to get done which is why the price equalises across most of them.

All the forms are freely available to you.

Please stop talking **** you know nothing about and stop listening to WhatsApp groups and calling them “research”.

Nonsense, Steenbras is still able to replenish at higher stages. Cape Town is on the same stage as Eskom after 10pm at night in order to replenish.

Only problem is when Eskom is on stage 6, then we are on stage 5 which isn't really a huge difference. Other days like today while the rest of the country is on stage 2, we don't have any loadshedding at all.
 
And once again South Africa makes history, with the first ever New Years load shedding. Which will shortly be followed by the first ever stage 8+.
