so power came back 2 hours late, just to go off again at 22:00 and rince and repeat.

The black part is coal minus pumped storage so it goes down overnight when they are pumping the water back.
Thermal Gen 16.6GW minus 2.2GW water pumping = the black bit.

You would think they would need to at the peak of the day between 7 and 8pm. They have probably just run out.

Prepare for stage 8. These guys don’t like odd numbers.

If eskom doesn't have diesel or the dams aren't full then they have to go deeper into load shedding just to keep a safety margin

They keep margin nearly 4000MW when there no emergency reserves, which is about right as they had 3800MW margin last night. Margin is kept at around 2000MW when there is diesel etc

Our power is currently off and then going off and 15-17 and then again 23 - 3. Damn what am I gonna do with all that prime TV time with power!!! Getting spoiled here

Just enough to get few things done. Cooking was done big batch so no stress for evening. Granny did, helped abit.
