How did you get that right

Mayor got the Premier involved and they made arrangement with ESKOM since we already had 10+ hours of loadshedding on the day before the next slot was scheduled.

Going to be a constant problem. Again this morning power came back 2 hours late. 4AM instead of 2AM. Then went off at 8AM again and thankfully came back at the scheduled 12:00.

Will need to see what happens after the 4PM to 8PM slot.

Evening Peak Feedback 14/01/2023, 20:23
Total demand: 26 872MW
Loadshedding: 4 820MW
Renewable Generation: 1 447MW (Wind 1 052MW, CSP 370MW, PV 25MW)
@Eskom_SA Available Generation Capacity: 24 726MW
@EskomSpokesper1

Tough week ahead, let's hope there little bit of diesel left pumped storage is hopefully ready to go.

Rumors around around there not much diesel left and can only be used if the situation is critical
We're not getting out of stage 6 that's pretty much it

What did we have the night before? 25000MW?

The problem with these numbers are that we don’t know what they doing. They might have decided to take units down cause usage was also down. But that still does not justify stage 6. In extreme stage 5

Do you have (ceiling) insulation? :ROFL:
One house did have the others not. It's just not cold enough here for heaters and kuk. Put on a jersey or sit under a blanket if you really feel cold and heat up the bed before you go to bed. :giggle: Also coming from the freezing cold of the eastern Free State before moving to Bloem sort of immunizes you to cooler weather... You only need to wear two shorts and T shirts in winter.:ROFL:

Damn that's rubbish. CoCT, which is usually quite on time with the stages, messed up slightly today as it didn't come on at the correct time. Just phoned the call centre and electricity came back on within 5 minutes.
Yup. If I calculated correctly that means we get a total of 6-8 hours of power in every 24h cycle. Beyond infuriating. I can suck up the loadshedding, but the extra 2 hours because they have to manually flip a switch is just too much to handle.

Did you notice a difference?

But Eishkom has a phobia of odd numbers.

Did you notice a difference?
Actually not really. The only time I noticed a difference was when I was living in the Eastern Free State - Ficksburg/Fouriesburg area. Here the house had a zinc roof with the ceiling covered in Aerolite. We also had an anthracite stove in the kitchen which also heated the geyser. This kept the house nice and toasty in the winter when it was freezing, sometimes temps going down to -13 degrees at night. You just had to manage it a bit better in summer when it could get too hot in the house. Never kept the fridge in the kitchen as it wouldn't get properly cold. Then one day Eskom happened and we got electricity, so out with the anthracite stove and in with the electric stove and geyser. This happened in summer...
Next winter we nearly froze as the house was not getting warm enough and realized the aerolite was the problem. It prevented the sun from heating the house through the roof and also kept the cold in. So much for modern living.

We’ll be getting stage 6 and four eights next
Back in the good ol' days, Cape Town's load shedding schedule only went up to stage 3.

But we had a Stage 3A and a Stage 3B (which was really just stage 4 in disguise).

So Eskom could essentially avoid higher stages by publishing a new schedule with stage 6A, B, C etc. It'll keep the 30 percenters/ANC votas placid.

Everyone had that until about 2014, only CPT kept it a bit longer

Same here, our power will come back on after 12 hours without power and 15 minutes later they will still loadshed us
Happened to me a few days ago. 10 hours without power due to a fault. 1 hour later 4 hours of loadshedding
