Andrè de Ruyter leaves Eskom with immediate effect

Wednesday, 22 February 2023:

Following the convening of a special Board meeting on 22 February 2023, the Eskom Board and Group Chief Executive (GCE) Andrè de Ruyter have reached mutual agreement to curtail his notice period to 28 February 2023.

The board further resolved that Mr de Ruyter will not be required to serve the balance of his notice period but that he will be released from his position with immediate effect.

Acting GCE arrangements are being finalized with the shareholder Minister and will be communicated shortly.

Gas heating / cooking etc. must be appealing to more and more as things get worse. Getting my gas wholesale @ currently R290 (Edit: excluding delivery charge) per 9Kg unit which gives us one bar of heat for up to 110 hours - no comparison to electric heating.

I do miss our gas geysers, the only worry was getting a new 48kg gas bottle when one ran out, we run our electric geysers using our inverter or generator but it is an additional worry.
