Got a Powerbeam M5 400 kit, 4km apart, clear line of sight (can see both antennas - from both sides - with binocs)

can't get them aligned

-78dbi is the best we can get.
500ms ping times
major packet loss
= useless

is there anyone in the JHB/Midrand area with experience in aligning these babies?

or does anyone have 2 x presicion alignment brackets lying around? (noone has stock)

Running the latest firmware? Any fresnel zone obstructions?

Any interference on the channel being used? Use Ubiquiti airLink below, enter your site locations, height, kit and power levels... see what it tells you?

UBNT airLink

Also try Airview to see if there is any interference in the channel you're on, try pick a cleaner channel if you can. Drop your channel width to 20 Mhz as well.

mm, got it working.

radio 2 didn't like being "station", it wanted to be "access point"
once we chnaged roles on both radios the link came up immediately.

appears that in a PTP scenario the radio with the most interference (most noisy area) needs to be configured as "station".

It (the station) decides what frequency will be used.
