I saw some prawns at spar in like a zip bag thing -think it was pink prawns from Mozambique (spar brand)-anyway are they any good or is I&J better?

As a stock, with the head as well - yes.
Otherwise it's pretty unpleasant imo, no matter how crispy it gets...
My gran use to suck the brains out of the head.
As do I. It's the sweetest part. If you can get past the thought of it, it's the best tasting part of a prawn - and many other shellfish actually. Langoustine heads being my favourite.
Up until a few years ago, many people refused to even consider eating squid heads - they're now the norm on many restaurant menus...
Just a note, we shouldnt eat the skin, it can tear open your insides... apparently.
