And I'm asking honestly Perhaps there is a reason that I'm not sure of? But even if I do a comparison between the two, I seriously have to stay within the cap I chose upfront with 3G. I was on ADSL384 with Mweb 1GB. Granted, it's not much more but it is more - and the cost seems to be data rather than rental, service or infrastructure.

1GB of data with Mweb was R490 and 3G R350.00
2GB of data with Mweb was R590 and 3G R640.00
3GB of data with Mweb was R690 and 3G R739.00

I agree with your point even though your calculations are a "little" off. Vodacom is taking advantage of the current market where with everyone you pay a connection fee and is including it in the price of the bundle. The problem with this model however is that if you need more you end up paying that again. See no reason why they can't just charge for the difference. Whether you use 3GB or 2+1GB doesn't make any difference to the cost.

Just wondering why both Vodacom and MTN have stopped prepaid databundles at the 2GB offering. I need 3GB a month and now I need to cough up R289 for 1 extra f**king GB? How ridiculas is that! Why cant they offer 3GB, 4GB and even cheaper like they offer contract customers?

I dont need and cant afford 4GB a month. I need about 2.8GB a month so 4GB is kinda overkill.

I also don't want a contract because some months I may not need a data bundle and I also do not want to be tied to anything legally...

Maybe your finances will allow for 2GB every 20 days. At least it won't expire and it's cheaper anyway.

I see all the bundles are now available through 111. The prices are still strange with a jump of R300 from 2GB to 3GB and 3GB to 5GB though. With every other service provider you pay less per GB the more you buy and not more. Also R160 for 250MB when for just R29 more you get double that. Can't understand the reasoning for this or why it is taking the marketing so long to make a decision to change it.

I still don't see the logic of buying a 3GB PPDB while the price per meg is higher anyway, assuming you're going to be buying one a month and its not a once off purchase, better to just buy multiple 2GB bundles seeing as they don't expire at month end.

1 GB + 2 GB = R678
