Had to dig this up, what's news on this?

I dropped my monthly HSDPA-bundle on my contract for next month. So unless Vodacom come out with prepaid stuff very soon, i'll be using MTN and Virgin [which is 50c p/MB without bundles....!!!??] as my primary internet...

I am basing this on the fact that i'm not getting HSDPA speeds anyway, and i suppose Virgin will only provide GPRS/EDGE ..but the costs and flexibility are more important here.

I know a little bit off topic, sorry

And on Virgin Mobile for every R200 you spend they will give you R30 back so data could in fact work out even cheaper on Virgin Mobile.

Nearly July - Pre Paid Data Bundles

Any news yet?

Rumours?

I normally load up with a R275 Voucher (just after pay day :D ) at this time of the month but I am not going that route today just in case I need it for PPDB. So it's going to be R29 every few days ...

Wishfull thinking??

LOL, been there and it looks good. Just waiting for the probs with the Vodafone (Vodacom) datacards to get sorted (main news Forum Virgin Thread, ppl unable to connect) and I will 'prolly buy a Virgin Sim Card and test EDGE. It might be slower (than 3G/HSDPA) but at 25% of the price :)

Waiting to see what VC are going to do ;)

Seems like Cell C are so desperate for customers that they have to resort to sending their representative on to the other networks' forums to try and promote their products (and those of VM) over the opposition. Ag shame! :p

will probably be nothing spectacular IF it happens anyway... VC has been promising ppdb for some time now, i am losing hope

Gave up hope over a year ago..... Virgin have pretty much beaten them to cheap data

Only two days left. So what's going to happen?
Exactly what we been waiting for when they reduced data to R2/MB and promised further cuts... on bundles we MAY get to like R1/MB if we lucky, but i can not see them beating the virgin price... not anytime soon at least, and not for the avg user... if they beat that price it will only be on 1 gig bundles, MAYBE on the 500MB bundle

It is still not clear to me ... if I get a Vodacom 4U pre-paid starter pack can I buy pre-paid data bundles for it on a monthly basis - or will I be stuck with R2/MB only?

That is the idea with the "data bundles", which is supposed to be launched at midnight. When are we getting those?

And the REAL pain is (whats new?) the VC4me site is down again, so I can't see what I've got left (of my last R29) unless I put the sim card in a phone, dial 100 yada yada ...

Stuff this, I am just going to go with usual R275 Prepaid Internet Transfer and forget about this PPDB dream.
