v3g will let us know when he knows with 1000% certainty that PPDBs are going to be released - probably a day before, or on the day - there's no point in trying to back v3g into a PPDB corner - he has burnt his fingers on PPDB imminencecy before...
Too bad he only knows with 100% certainty and Vodacom has ****ed me off once too often with their imminent™ data bundles and I'm now on Virgin. :p

They certainly should be, competition is king!! :D
After being on contract with them for close on 7+ years, I will probably be moving to MTN when MNP rolls round in order to get the phone I want.
VC has a bit of a 'Telkoministic' attitude about their pay in amount....

So data bundles ARE available on pre-paid sims?

I just send an sms MyMeg 20 to 100 , and it shows that a data bundle was added... at least that is what the reply sms on my cell said, and vodacon4me confirms .. but will it actually work? I dont normaly use my cell phone to access lots of data, since I do have a HSDPA card at home and diginet at work.

oh!! Pray tell, how does it all work? Where do you "buy" the data bundle, I usually just buy my airtime at Standard bank online, how would I go about buying say 100 Meg of data for my pre-paid SIM?

I bought airtime on my Absa bank online banking site to the value of the bundle, then I send a sms as stated below to 100 .. (message MyMeg 20). I assume other MyMeg codes will exist. after a few minutes the bundle was added and the airtime was reduced by the cost .. easy.

Oops no it seems it only stole my money ..

3 Data Bundle Prepaid 2006-08-01 16:07:45 - - 0 - R -35.00 No

It cost me R35 for a 20 MB data bundle. Then I inserted the pre-paid sim into my HSDPA card and downloaded a few megs. It ate my normal remaining pre-paid airtime .. NOT the data bundle. So did I buy a useless bundle?

kedul, did the call desk tell you to try this (thought I read it somewhere in one of your posts)?

If so, won't you PM me the date/time of your call and the number you called from?

I'm trying to trace where they got this (incorrect) info from.

Vodacom3G, NO the help desk did not tell me to send the sms to get the pre-paid data bundle. I scanned the posts on this forum yesterday, and without reading too much detail, noticed something about it somewhere, and decided to send the "MyMeg 20" sms .. simply because I could and I thought if it didnt work, it would simply do nothing.

martin, yes, that was it, thanks.

I remember reading it and got you confused with kedul, my mistake. Thanks for clearing it up.

Can you let me know which shop?

The Vodashop inside Centurion Mall.
