On my pc i'm lucky to get to 1 MB when using vm. Email seems to work ok in beginning then counts percentages for even small emails of about 5 KB. Anti virus updates of less than 100 KB takes minutes to download. My top speed according to net limiter is 0.6 KB/second. On the graph there are a few high points then just nothing.

this is how it works - you buy top up vouchers to the value of the data bundle you wish to buy - then sms the bundle name ''mymeg500'' to the number 100. havnt tested it out yet , will do tomorrow :)

Definitely not. That's why I'm still asking for pre-paid data bundles.

R2 per MB is the out-of-bundle rate, in-bundle would be cheaper.
Depending on how much you use it wouldn't be much cheaper. For large bundles you also lose out or have to pay extra. Bundles are outdated, they should never have existed and we should have been charged a "fair" rate like 50c/MB, yet Vodacom insists on milking the cash cow.

Try roaming on Vodacom or if you are roaming only use Cell-C.

DON'T do that. There is a warning that the system can go offline at any time and you might be unable to use your bundle during that time or even lose it.

Welcome to the forum. :)

Yesterday when I restarted my phone it was on roaming (not sure if it was cc or vc). Speed was better. Highest was 1.3KB/s. Still nothing significant but at least I was able to view web pages.

I used the manual network setting yesterday. When i tried roaming on CC it just went back to virgin. Then i tried roaming on VC. Worked great:D Max speed was 6.8kB/s. Average speed was just under 5kB/s:) I install thunderbird off a cd then updated it. Managed to chalk up 11 MB in total. It felt great to use VC @ VM prices :D Thanks for the tip Prometheus :)

That's because with Virgin you ARE on the Cell-C network. I'm glad Vodacom's network is of use to some people.

If Vodacom had ppdb's that doesn't expire I would just buy a R1,100 voucher for R1,000. Does anyone know if they still sell them for R1,000? This would give me an extra 9.09% discount or even more if I buy it at PnP on my data. This will give me almost 3GB for R1,000. This could last me 5 months. But wait a minute, Virgin only charges 50c/MB and still undercharges me...

Come on Vodacom, make it worth my while when you finally offer ppdbs.

Are they finally getting around to it? I notice that the *111# menu has changed and now includes: 2. SMS and Data Bundle Purchases ... selecting option 2 only gives you sms bundles though...

Too bad for VC I've already applied to have my number ported to VM :p

Add to the list the V Rewards that is now working, sorta. I don't think Vodacom or even MTN will ever beat their price. Maybe Cell C will... :D

nobody needs to beat virgins price as their service is waay to unstable

Odd that you say that! Vodacom is up and down like a yoyo here, but even when Vodacom has problems I can still use Virgin Mobile (roaming on Vodacom) all be it only on EDGE of course!

The Vodacom 3G service is probably the most unstable I have found anywhere in the world!

pfft vm aint getting beter to me... is still slow as ****. i have to keep changing my ip addys and proxy just to get some speed

PPDB's

I tried dialing *111# for my sms bundles, On option 2 i get sms and data bundles purchases. Have anyone notice this:confused: ?

Have vodacom already introduced prepaid data bundles?
Its wierd hey!

Prepaid Databundles

That was the reason I went over to MTN, when I told Vodacom why I'm leaving their network they told me prepaid databundles are in the pipline, still got their ref. no somewhere but had no feedback, still waiting....
MTN databundles are the same for contract and prepaid customers.
Time networks should tread all prepaid customers fairly.

That's why i went over to MTN,waiting far to long for vodacom's PPDB.
