PPDBs not yet available?

I just spoke to a employee at Vodashop in Brackenfell and she informed me that PPDBs are not yet available(!). This seems to be in conflict with everything else that has been mentioned in this thread today. Can anyone provide any clarification? Thanks

I never trust the shops assistant's word as far as I can spit. The shops usually take a few weeks (months) to catch up. I suppose the memos are sent in time but whether all the employees read them is another question. If *111# on your phone has the option to buy a bundle and if Vodacom's site says they are available, then I think it is safe to assume they are!

Yea well, i just cant see how those people get the work at voda shops... i mean how do u do a job you know nothing about?

With PPDBs a few interesting permutations becomes available. I was finally able to load a databundle on my Topup 135 account by using the Mymeg 500 SMS to 100.

I see on the Smartcall website (http://www.smartcall.co.za) that they still have a product called Smartup. With this you pay R1999 (as opposed to the R999 i paid) and then you will get R135 per month of airtime. The option can be as follows: Buy 2 of these vouchers and activate. In first month, load an additional R 155 of airtime and purchase a 1Gig bundle. Use that for the month. In the second month, use the second sim and add R20 worth of airtime, buy a 1Gb bundle. Alternate between sims in the following months and always add R20 worth of airtime.

This will result in you paying a total of R4589 for 24Gb of data over 24 months. This translates into paying only 18.67 cent per MB.

If you buy three Smartup vouchers, you can buy 2GB per month, by adding 255 in month 1, R119 in month 2. At the end of the period, you will have R352 airtime remaining over the three sims. This translates into paying an effective R 6019 for 48 GB of data over 24 months or 12.24c/MB - Not bad.

(R6019 = 3 * 1999 + 255 + 119 - 352)
(4589 = 2 * 1999 + 154 + 23 * 19)

Both examples above need an capital outlay upfront but the cost of the 2GB per month still works out 35% cheaper than the contract bundle rates.

ic, this morning I activated a data bundle, and vodacom4me now shows the data bundle is active, does that mean that I can start using it? Or should I rather wait a day?

I'm sure they are going to block this very quickly...

Question regarding Prepaid Data Bundles

Hi guys.

I hope someone could please help me.

I have a Prepaid sim that I used a while ago. How do I go about loading a 1GB Bundle on my sim?

Do I first have to buy airtime and load it on my sim then have it changed to data or what? I'm new with Vodacom Prepaid Data Bundles, I geuss we all are.:D

Thanks for the help in advance.

Just spent 30min talking (and holding) to a consultant at customer care who does not even know that data bundles are available for Top Up contracts. I then get told that unfortunately they can't activate a data bundle for me and the only way for me to do it is to use the *111# service menu. When i explained to her that i keep getting an error message when trying to do this, al i get is a simple sorry. Very frustrating...

Can anyone tell me where on the vodacom4me website you have to go to purchase a data bundle? (This seems to be my only other option)

I really don't know, the way I found...
I guess the only way of doing this with pre-paid, is to connect & transfer a small amount of data, then disconnect and wait up to 3 hours, then...

Thanks, ic. This is on contract though.

I dont think so:rolleyes:

Thanks

Sorry for all the questions guys but I just want to be 100% sure.

Say I buy R200 airtime and I get a 500MB bundle for R189, the bundle data will be at the low rate and as soon as the 500MB has been used it will be R2 per MB untill the ramaining R11 is used then I wont be able to go online untill I buy more airtime?

Is this correct?
