So I sold out. Took a bit of a hit. Call me stupid :crylaugh: but where do you think bitcoin will bottom, top out at?

I predict $1,200 by the end of the month.

non analytical, unscientific prediction: $800

Then a steady recovery with a possible high spike to follow by the end of the year

I only hold alt coins, I only hold R6.00 worth of Bitcoin .

Edit: To answer the OP, I don't know where Bitcoin will end up. I don't rule out the possibility that it can become zero. I don't trust central bankers, they might be working behind the scenes to destroy Bitcoin so that their fiat currency printing business doesn't get threatened.

I don't know the dynamics of the market that well, but it seems (?) that bitcoin is dragging everything down.

Which is strange for me since people selling out of bitcoin should be buying into other currencies.

Nah people selling bitcoin go to fiat

The whole crypto market is down 35 billion currently.

But after 1st August it will shoot the roof out.

The next "industrial revolution" is upon us.

I don't always agree with Thor, but we think alike when it comes to cryptocurrenies.

IMHO, cryptocurrencies are currently being doctored by Fearmongering. Whichever way the vote goes, it will be positive.

It is better to read on any insecurities one may have by reading this,

https://bitcoin.org/en/alert/2017-07-12-potential-split

than listening to the many naysayers.

Good info. I'm actually looking forward to a split, and will have bitcoin again by the 1st to help experience the ensuing chaos. This is the most excitement I've had with money EVER.

I'm just enjoying working with money instead of giving it to someone else. I was using FNB sharesaver, and that was a complete waste of time. The money I have on the exchange is a very small portion of my investment money. So I'd say my driving motivation at the moment is just to stay in the game, not make a killing (I'd even be happy to break even). The last month (yes that is how long I've ever traded for) has been worth more in education, than I could have paid for with the money I've actually put in.

Was on Luno and it was useless. I couldn't see anything, and the whales where moving everyone. At least with Bitfinex I've been able to experiment with different indicators, and the liquidity and volatility means you learn quick.

Talking about Luno, I enquired regarding a deposit I made yesterday afternoon. The automated response includes a section that says:

Please note, we're currently experiencing very high signup and email volumes. It currently may take us two to four business days to respond to your message.

Please refrain from submitting multiple tickets at a time as this slows down our team.

hmmm

I sent a request in 2 weeks ago. No answer. Not as big a problem as a deposit, but would have been nice to get an answer. It's still a great service to get BTC into another exchange though. That would/might explain why they trade higher than most other exchanges.

Once this plunge settles, and I have a bit more experience I'll look into a paypal or credit card option.

Yeah, FNB online banking started using phone app. for confirmation of payment and gave 2 warnings when I tried to deposit to Luno, something about untrustworthy or something. Perhaps I should have listened or maybe the deposit will go through early next week hopefully.

Strange. I did my deposits from the FNB website and it came through in about 10min. I wish you the best on sorting that out.

In the past it always reflected soon for me as well. I was starting to think that Luno may have problems with too many people leaving/withdrawing or something, so it is good to know that yours went through.

Pretty much with you there. Think it will reach a low of between $1450 - $1200 in the next couple of weeks before reversing (using weekly log chart). Will I buy more? Nope - but have started selling some that I am in profit (LTC and DASH) for some crappier but ok coins ( MAID, BURST maybe more STRAT, DGB)

The deposit came through a little while ago, sorry for possible fear mongering.

Prediction = sub $1000 before or around 1 August.. lets see! I see all of them are tumbling, I'll wait a bit and see before I buy anything (Ether, Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ripple and wildcard Nem)

Any advice re protecting one self against the effects of hard fork?

I am happy with this to be honest, it will make other coins more attractive to purchase. From a trading perspective, EOS and NEO may soon be on level with ETH. EOS and NEO has more potential. Considering that EOS is now sub $1.50, it is a bargain, and NEO is below $5.

I don't see any use in buying into LTC, it is better to be mined and traded. Scrypt miners are loving this atm. Ripple is being whaled, by the time it is a success story there will be many alternatives, and only those with a big stake in Ripple will score.
