Hi All,

Can anyone tell me how I would go about using my data card with a prepaid card. No-one seems to be able to help me. Calling the network is a waste of time, they can only tell me about add on packages.

Please help.............

Sorry, the reason for me wanting to do this is that I got a new notebook that has 3G embedded and I am giving my wife the old machine with the data card. I don't need another contract.

Get a prepaid SIM, activate it(by dialing 100), load airtime, convert the airtime to your bundle of choice, and you're good to go.

Iam3G, can I do the same with my cell phone if I am on a 'weekend everyday' contract? Or how would in work in my case? I have been on prepaid (old phone, no 3G) so no idea.

Edit: Sorry Iam3G, I mistook you for a vodacom rep for a second there :o

What i explained was for prepaid only. Because you are Contract, you have the option for Contract Ad-Hoc bundles(pretty much uses the same principle as PPDS's), but you would have to go to your nearest Vodashop to have it activated on your account, or you can call customer care or 155.

I might as well be... ;)

Thanks, have the sim, loaded airtime. How do I convert to a bundle (once off). Nobody at Vodacom seems to know.

You're kidding me right

Put the SIM in your Cell Phone. Dial *111#, choose Bundle Purchases, choose Data Bundle, then choose the bundle you want.

Cool, Thanks.
I am not kidding, I phoned the cust care desk and the rocket scientist on the other end of the phone put me on hold and came back sayin that she did not have an answer.
Thanks again.

I'm not even surprised anymore.

Won't you PM me the number you called from and the approximate time and I'll make work of it. ;)

I dialed 111, but not sure of the time. It was yesterday sometime, swopped the sim in my phone so all the recent calls were deleted. Not a symbian phone so no lifeblog.

Converting prepaid to data

Dear all
Is there a way of converting prepaid airtime to data bundles without taking the sim card out of the notebook every time? I tried setting up a connection to *111# and also texting to *111# from the wireless manager's 'messages' tab but neither of these worked . Surely there must be a way for the notebook to act like a phone ...
With thanks
liela

loading airtime

yes I concure. the loading of airtime by removal of sim card from device into cellophone to dial *111# sounds crazy.

one cannot buy airtime online?

I found an easier way.
I registered on Vodacom4me.
I transfer directly from my internet banking to the number.
I then log on to V4Me and convert to data bundle there.

Ploblem Solved..........:)
