Crazy, I never buy from Prophecy because they are always the must expensive of all online shops.

During last christmas i was looking around canal walk for the cheapest memory card for my kiddo's psp.

Checked out 4 or 5 shops in the centre and price varied from R330 to R499. Thats R170 price variation within the same shopping centre. Needless to say I purchased the R330 memory card.

Funny how they are selling a 8800 GTS, but the description is about the 7900. They screwed up 6 times :D

As a consumer, this sort of price difference really is ridiculous for the same product.
A very clear example of why we as S.A. consumers MUST be careful about what we buy for our hard earned money.

R1000 difference

That is an anomoly. Prophecy consistently have the lowest prices out there.

It is very rare that anyone can better them, never mind by R1000.

u know that golder sample is more expensive hey?

think about it your 2999 for gainward 8800gts and 900 for psu

Weird, I think a small slip-up must've crept in somewhere. No ways could the difference be that radical, Prophecy's one of the better local e-tailers.

Hi Everyone,

I've been notified of this thread and would please like the opportunity to explain the situation a bit better.

I have spoken with the local Gainward importer 3 times the last week and a bit about this product, and also the fact that the Golden Sample is cheaper than the non-GS version. I assure you that my prices, as of today, is 100% correct, according to the prices that the importer gave me, for those two cards.

The importer does NOT have any stock of the non-GS version, at this moment, and their new price (ETA 6 June) is at the price I have it on the site (~R4000). They do have stock of the Golden Sample version (~R3500) and the price on my site is also correct for this.

I have even gone as far as getting hold of the buyer and product managers of these two products and asked them to personally confirm the prices to me, and they confirmed that, even though it looks wrong, the prices are in deed correct.

How computers only is able to sell at that price, is beyond me. My only guess is that they purchased stock at the old price, and they still have stock of these.

I urge you all to reconsider your thoughts about the prices of The Prophecy Shop. We have never, and will never strive the be the cheapest in every area. But I can bet that we will always be very competitive with our prices, and considering that we now sell the 2900XT card for R3999, I'm sure you'll agree that you won't find it cheaper in South Africa at this point in time.

Well price is key but I guess service is also pretty important.

I recently bought a new PC built to a custom specification for about R14k. I priced up all the component parts at a dozen different on-line shops.

Prophecy Shop was the least expensive by over a R1000, with Take2 the second least expensive.

I've had good experiences at the Prophecy Shop, but that won't prevent me from always shopping around before buying.

seconded...

i have just received my new toy. it is the one that Firestar mentioned (2900XT) at a VERY good price. I could not match it anywhere, and the service was awesome. Free delivery as well.

think before you buy? i did... and i think it was a good idea
