He said electricity is sold to neighbouring countries at a loss of 30% and industrial consumers at a loss of 0.5%, while it sells to residential and rural users at a profit of 159% and 109.4% respectively.

Because we don't have stupid contracts with Eskom.. so they can hike our prices.. they can't hike the commercial or international clients prices without being in breach of contract.

Yesterday for the first time I watched "Enron : The smartest guys in the room", and when they got to the california power crisis, I just saw it eskom = enron (sorry of this seems a bit belated, but I am a complete NOOB when it comes to business matters and corporations, they are all evil to me). It is as if the exact same tactics are unfolding here (puts on time foil hat)

I know buggerall about running a business, but even to me, having a contract that "forces" you to sell at a 30% loss is STUPID!!!!!

WTF were they thinking!?!?!
