With all the ADSL pricing wars going on, I was having a chat with a few clients and they all eventually asked me what package I was on.

I told them that I was with Neotel and obviously, they were like all interested beacause it seems they have all heard "only bad things" about Neotel.

I didn't help matters for that story because obviously I told them about my dramas. (only being honest!)

Suffice to say, we eventually got on the topic of how much we pay etc.

Now, with everything going on, I'm paying R1000 ± for basically a 100KB/s line which is uncapped - that is ultimately the Neotel Prime Uncapped package.

Do you guys feel it's worth R1000 ?!?

Granted it comes with the phone options and such, but if I was to say... "take it away, I don't use it" then let's look at the price again.

What do you guys feel the NPU is worth ... monthly?

I feel, about R500 should be enough, if you add the phone, then I'd say toss on another R100.

Thoughts, comments etc?

I honestly hope that with all the pricing changes going on, the NPU price will also adjust accordingly at some point... so having said that, Neotel rep; you think that will honestly happen? You're welcome to post YOUR opinion here and it will only be taken as that... an opinion.

Threads

You're all for opening up as many threads as possible...

AAARRRGGGHHHH..... lol

Anyway, can't let too much out now, but restructuring of device may take place outside of package subs shortly.

I think it's because it's nice to have someone from Neotel who is not scared to be honest and of cause, the helpful part is a massive bonus.

Suffice to say, if Neotel can give us (clients) options of saving costs here and there (remember, we are in a recession apparently) then I'd gladly say, hey, take the phone part (making and receiving calls - unless from or to Neotel) away, and it would save money, PLEASE DO IT :)

The only person who would be PO would be my GF but she can bloody well use her cellphone! :)

My speed on Neotel is between 1Mbit and 2Mbit and I get great speeds on torrents

You know, honestly I would have been happy to pay the R1K for the prime uncapped if it actually delivered.

The sad thing was that I never actually used the phone. For anything.

I do my downloading from an ftp site that only allows a certain number of simultaneous connections. If I used the phone, it would "freeze" my connection. That would leave the connections open on the server side and kill them on my side. Then it would be a 20 minuet wait for the connections to time out so I can connect again... The same thing would happen every time it "Reconnected".

True 1mb uncapped with no line fees and such I think might be worth 1k. Maybe a little less.

and still people have to come to mybb to voice their opinions about a x companies. Its really pathetic. what about people who don't even know about mybb and people who are even less in knowledge about how they are ,dealing with their own problems?

what a pity.

I see alot of people find out about MyBB, alot of members join to voice their issues and then get helped... MyBB is a great site and is advertised alot via Word of mouth.

Enough for what exactly? An uncapped internet connection going at how fast? So we can compare it to ADSL ;)

R500 all inclusive [ISP + Device/Line Rental] does sound acceptable.

The silly thing going on is, some companies believe Wireless = premium and therefore more expensive [Iburst/Vodacom/MTN etc] . Then in the same sentence, people don't get a premium experience on wireless, it's usually pretty damn crappy.

So ADSL is still the "premium" product. If you have ADSL then there really ain't anything better. I actually struggle to see where Neotel suddenly beats Telkom, sure they beat Vodacom/Iburst/MTN in pricing, but is that their market or is it the Telkom market????

So here comes Neotel, supposedly to be the 2nd "fixed line" operator competing with Telkom on their own turf. They're suppose to be cheaper but now threw in wireless into the mix for the "last mile" . Suddenly we have a mix here of a wireless connection which does not remotely compare to ADSL , and the pricing is not exactly that great!

If i had to choose between 5GB Neoflex @ R599 p/month [3.1 Mbit/s] vs. Telkom 3GB ADSL @ R569 p/month [384 kbit/s] i'd go for Telkom every time. You will get your 384 kbit/s from Telkom 99% of the time, you will be LUCKY to see even 1 mbit/s consistently on Neotel. So is Neotel actually making progress here?

How are they cheaper? We complain about Telkom's Line rental, but wireless companies are building the exact same costs into their packages....and you end up with an inferior product.
