I hadn't done a speed test in a little while, and I was pleasantly surprised with my prime connection this morning (Bellville, Cape Town):

This on top of the fact that I haven't had any issues in the last month... Has Neotel started getting their act together?

I'm hoping it continues like this.

Now can those on the capped versions please get their data monitor? I will be hoping to join those ranks too with a Flex package, but won't until there is a bandwidth monitor from Neotel's side:P:)

I should have posted the London speed test I did this morning as well. I got 0.84 Mbps down - which is also above what I was expecting. I'll mail you the screen grab if you would like (don't have the direct link). I have the office competing for bandwidth now, so doing a speed test won't be accurate.

Sorry for sharing my good experience with Neotel. Perhaps I should just leave this forum to the likes of those that want to continually knock Neotel.

I complain here when things don't go well (http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=163621)... why the hell can't I comment when things are going well?

Edit: I'd like to add that me being an ignorant user looked at the "Start Test To Recommended Server - Johannesburg" text, and thought... "hey, it's recommended, try that one".

And to comment on your extensive research comment... I am a user... over the last month my connection hasn't disconnected... I have been happy with my internet experience... I did a speed test to JHB and London this morning just for some kind of metric. Things are working and that means I don't have an urge to complain. Why do I need extensive research to know that I am pleased? That's all I came here to say.... I am pleased at the moment.

You're more than welcome to comment when things go well. But when posting speedtests do so with more than one server, especially if it's the JHB server. ;) I'm not bashing Neotel. I'm being a realist. Things with Neotel have been very inconsistent since the beginning of February. So until they show some consistency I will continue with my wary attitude.

P.S. You can view your previous tests done on speedtest.net via the button "Your Results" in the top right corner of the site. Click on your London test and it'll will supply you with a link to the results for you to paste here.

Run around from Neotel .. now stuck with expensive connection from Telkom

We use a lot of bandwidth, a lot. We now have an uncapped 1meg line with static IP address from Telkom that is costing us a bloody fortune >R3000/month and it falls over constantly.

We tried to request this service from Neotel and got given a run around: yes it's available, no it's not, um it will be, um sort of  ... eventually we gave up and stuck with Telkom - has anyone managed to come right with a decent uncapped broadband connection (with fast local and international connection)?
