Hey Guys, i know you have heard a billion rants about this but still.

Need to buy some black ink for my printer, Black Ink costs R400 whilst my Printer now costs R500 (with a black and colour ink provided):sick:

I mean come on, we all complain about high bandwidth costs but this must be the biggest rip off the worlds seen. The worst part about it is you really got nothing to show for it apart from some typing on a piece of paper.

So where do you guys shop for ink? I have tried those refill kits but they never work well for me:(

I have always found Computer Mania cheap enough for the Canon cartridges.

I was forced to buy generic ink for my Canon, now the whole thing is stuffed, its going in the bin, and I have 3 unopened cartridges for it too.. ho hum. Now I'm shopping for a cheap colour, and a Laser 3 in 1.
 
Just buy a new printer. Recycle your old one. Cheaper + you get full black + colour.

lol, right, as if they didn't think of clever people like you trying to beat the system!

they sell the printers for cheap, along with a 1/4 filled cartridge. selling ink is their main business!

at my company we pay R1000 per ink color, but thats for a whole litre of it - we print meters upon meters on glossy vinyl !:eek:
 
^^ I have always wondered that but when i bought my printer, the ink it came with has the exact same packaging as the normal ink you can buy - it didnt say anything about it being a "teaser" and the packaging look exactly the same.
 
Go for laser ... works out much cheaper in the long run. I've printed 1000's of pages on My Samsung SCX4531F and only replaced the ink once because it was the sample that came with it.

I'm sure the same will apply for a colour laser.
 
mmm iv been think of going that route.

Guys does incredible connection still have the offer where you can trade in your old Hardware to get a discount on your new?
 
Made any decisions yet? I like the idea of a colour laser multifunction. Not seen one though.
 
Well i needed this ink very badly - so i found a place called Bussiness Images (they have a website) I got my ink for R190 per instead of R400! I dont think they sell to the public but you can set up an account through a company (not 100% sure) and best of all they deliver with in 24Hours!

But i am going to look into buying a laser machine - much cheaper in the long run.

Yeah business images does cheap stationery too (although they do have their expensive moments) ... I get most of my stationery with them.
 
If anyone is still interested in this thread, I have been refilling Canon cartridges as part of my business for over six years, extremely successfully and economically.
The key is to use only top quality dedicated inks, like OCP or Inktec. The individual ink Canon's are very well suited for refilling, the only problem is that the newer models are employing the use of an encrypted chip, similar to what Epson has been doing for ages.

This can be overcome by using a new chip or a chip resetter.
An ink machine, refilled correctly with high quality ink, is far cheaper than a colour laser, can print better photographs and can be refilled by the home user without much mess or fuss!

Anyone used generic ink for a Canon ink tank printer?
If so, how was it?

We have an old Canon Pixma for which we bought generic ink. It worked fine; couldnt tell the difference even on photo paper.

Nowadays we just use an Epson with external ink tanks. I printed my entire dissertation three times in Feb (~1k pages 20% colour) for about R100 in ink.

Was it a Canon Pixma ink tank, or just normal inkjet cartridges?
