Prisons Renamed to Invoke Hope

I saw this last night, and could only think :wtf:

Really, these idjits somehow manage to amaze me with their stupidity on a relatively regular basis.

fark me, what the fark is happening to South Africa under these turdheads? Tomorrow we will have Oprah opening a Management Area School for criminals and the next day we will have celebrities coming to South Africa to paint Prison, sorry, Management Area walls and planting trees for inmates.

Who is South Africa trying to impress with this k@k? Does it make us look good in international eyes? Do they want prisoners to feel good about their lives behind bars and for the deeds they performed outside the walls? How about doing something for the elderly like building more old age homes or something?

Farking Rainbow Nation, Sewende Laan touchy feely BS.

Look up recidivism rates in Scandinavia.

By their logic, a sighting of Nelson Mandela would be the first sign of Spring!

The idea has merit. However there are problems which are currently much worse. Inmate rape, for one. Then there are holding cells where awaiting trial inmates pick up drug resistant TB and then spread it around. Medical care is also deficient and conditions are atrocious.

A 2006 Judicial Inspectorate of Prisons report showed prisoner mortality in the country rose from 1.65 deaths/1 000 prisoners in 1995 to 9.2 deaths/1 000 prisoners in 2005, a 5-fold increase.2

Mampara Management Area, sounds about right.

The Kgosi Mampuru II bit threw me, and I had to bing about :-)

So Mapuru was not II, "the second" but was in fact Mapuru, the once (I) and future king (II). (first time and second time)

Typical chaotic royal soap, (Not as funny as Generations though) -- Mapuru is the legitimate heir to Bapedi big house, and half bro of Sekukune, Sek organises a coup and Map goes on holiday, Sek fights all comers and becomes an icon, non bapedi folks get seriously ticked off at Sek and replace him with Map, Map offs the hafling, Maps utility expires and so does he.

Inspire hope? (and change, don't forget change) Maybe the folks at the Management area can explain.
