Is there a built-in function or an add-on for Firefox 3 that allows for private browsing? For example, on Safari you click on on "Edit" then "Private Browsing" and it doesn't record any information until the next time you start the browser.

Thanks :)

Ah, thanks. Just a quick question...that won't delete my previously-visited websites etc, right?

If you want PRIVATE browsing you'll need to set up a service with
a company like Xerobank.

http://xerobank.com/

First month is $1.

Not even your ISP will know what you're doing as the connection to Xb is encrypted.
Thereafter Xb acts as your proxy.

Don't need something so advanced. Just don't want FF to save my history, cookies, entered passwords etc. for that session.

I'm not too sure how long your session is going to be, but if you just want to browse privately for a short amount of time, you can get a browser called "Browsar". The reason I say "for a short amount of time" is because the browser is kinda irritating and slow, but it at least doesn't save any private data. It's quite small though, which is nice (~200KB).

But yeah, I'm sure there's a firefox addon or setting you can change.

Yeah that's still a bit extreme, but thanks. I'll look around for an addon. Basically I just want to start the browser, activate an option and have it not record anything until I close it and restart it.

EDIT: Found exactly what I'm looking for: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1306

Stealther ftw :P

Distrust always works for me :D

Though it'll be some time before it's compatible with Firefox 3.0.1 I think. Best to stick to Stealther for now.

Awesome, it's like exactly what you need. :) Thats what I like about the FF addon directory.
