Hi

I have just set up a reseller account on JustHost.com and they offer a private nameserver facility. If the domain is registered through them, this is set up by them and all is good, but if you do a domain transfer, they say you must contact the registrar to set this up.

I have transferred a .co.za domain, so they were unable to set up the nameservers. Has anyone every had any experience with JustHost and using .co.za private nameservers on their hosting?

Thanks

For .co.za to work properly you need to first setup the DNS on their servers, and then make sure the nameservers they give you is setup properly, i.e. they resolve & have RDNS entries. Then the domain transfer will go through :)

Last time I checked Just Host used cPanel, so an easy way for you to accomplish this would be to simply create the account in WHM (thereby creating the needed DNS entries) and then initiating the domain name transfer. If you just wish to transfer the domain name to your name servers but not the actual hosting for it, then you can use the DNS section in WHM for that.

Also, make sure the name server IP Addresses have rDNS configured.

Thanks. I have transferred the domain over to their servers (and am using their NS rnsx27a.justhost.com and rnsx27b.justhost.com ).

To set up the name server entries for my domain, do I simply add A records pointing to the IP addresses they gave me for their name servers (eg ns1.mydomain.co.za -> A -> 123.124.127.129)?

If you created the account in WHM, then the DNS should mostly be correct (assuming they have correctly set up the automatic configurations for your account). I am not sure what you wish to do further if you have already transferred the domain name over - to have the domain name point to your hosting account you will need to adjust the A - Record for the domain name to point to the server's IP Address (not the name server IP Addresses).

Their support should also be able to assist.

Any feedback about JustHost? I'm considering it as my web host. It seems that they have bad feedbacks. Or what do you think?

This is a good start for me. I've been hanging out on the net for couple of hours now just to find new tips for Justhost. I'm considering on making it my new hosting site.
