Problem adding RAM to laptop

the old RAM is actually this one http://www.amazon.com/Memory-SO-DIMM-PC3-10600S-1333MHz-HMT325S6BFR8C-H9/dp/1254875778/ref=sr_1_2?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1465240263&sr=1-2&keywords=HMT325S6CFR8C-H9
Hynix 2GB DDR3 Memory SO-DIMM 204pin PC3-10600S 1333MHz HMT325S6BFR8C-H9

If it makes any difference

**** knows. I do know that RAM is often the first thing to suspect when there's a PC issue, followed by the PSU.

Whenever I have to buy RAM, which isn't often, it's a minefield deciphering getting the right RAM.

Yes, would not removing the battery have a problem.

I have put the fast start up off, and will try again later

while the battery is in there is always current present. Kinda like leaving a PC plugged in and changing the RAM/CPU/whatever.

(edit for clarity: it could be that refers to turning off fast start. try that before trying below)
It could be that. But if that fails, pull out battery. hold power, plug in power. let power button go and see what happens. leave to charge at least 10min. then shut down properly and replace battery.

I will try this, hopefully it works

No luck, giving up hope

Will just try and get another 2gb RAM like the old one

the new and old chips...

if you look at them.

do they both have chips on only 1 side or have chips on both sides?

sometimes PCs/laptops are full of nonsense, not so much the brand, but how the chips are on the RAM.

Hi. It looks like it is chipset HM55 limitation. New memory is using not supported chips 512Mx64 in 1Rx8 module. Compatible chips are lower density 256Mx64. In 1Rx8 module it will give 2GB capacity (like the original one from Acer), if you want 4GB, it must be 2Rx8 module.
