Problem recharging Telkom SIM

Hey guys.

I'm having some trouble recharging my Telkom SIM. I have a Telkom SmartBroadband Wireless 10GB package, which is an upgrade from some other package. I never had this issue before the upgrade and this is the first time I'm attempting to recharge this SIM since the upgrade. I first tried to buy airtime through the bank, that didn't work. I went & bought a voucher today and tried several methods to recharge but all I get is "Sorry, this kind of recharge card cannot be used.".

Do any of you guys know what's happening here?

The SmartBroadband contracts are not TopUp contracts and you are not able to recharge with prepaid airtime, which is the reason you are getting that error message.

Should you wish to make calls from that sim, you will need to call 081180 to activate voice calling & calls on this contract are billed at R2.75 per minute.

Do you want to get airtime onto it to put data on it? If so, just buy the data bundles directly from bank site.

Don't know how people load the R50 to buy those 500GB packages then, or do they show at all the banks as well?

Thanks for that, it was really puzzling me. I've never really liked contracts so this is the only one I've ever had so I didn't know you can't recharge, how odd. Thanks a lot :)

I've actually never tried buying data straight from the bank but wouldn't that just have the same effect in this case? I've set my spend limit to R0 (not that I needed to with Telkom) so perhaps increasing that might allow me to purchase additional bundles?

I think I'll just get a prepaid SIM so I can use my voucher before I lose it. But I'll try buying some bundles from the bank and see if that works. Thanks.

Can't buy bundles, it just says no bundles available. Prepaid it is then.
 
Bought R35 telkom airtime today but still not reflecting. What's wrong with telkom?
