I have a problem with the Asus RT-AC5300 Router (2 routers, same problem).

I set up the router with a fibre terminal, and everything works as expected. However, a day or two later it stops working, and it is not possible to get into the router (via Wi-Fi or Ethernet).

When I go to the router IP (192.168.1.1), it gives the following message:

“Settings have been updated. Web page will now refresh. Changes have been made to the IP address or port number. You will now be disconnected from RT-N12D1. To access the settings of RT-N12D1, reconnect to the wireless network and use the updated IP address and port number.”

I tried to reset the router, but it continues to give the same message after the reset and restart.

Any help will be great.

Have you tried upgrading the Firmware, and changing the Admin passwords?

The problem is that I cannot get into the router. The default IP gives the error message I posted above.

First: Try accessing the page in incognito/private mode.

Otherwise:

You'll have to reset the router and update or possibly downgrade the firmware.
I have the same issue on the RT-N12HP

It's a real PITA. Also, backup your router settings.

Don't have any issues with the Asus N55 thou.

To gain access again, turn it off at the back of the router, and then unolug it. Wait a few minutes, then plug back in, and then turn it back on on the back of the router.

Other popular options is using an incognito tab to log into the router.

I tried incognito - no difference.

Also tried resetting it - did not work. No idea why reset would not work.

Tried this as well. No success. Same with the reset button.

You're holding the reset button down for 30 seconds right. It's a bit finicky.

I hope you have the solution by now, but, if not - when I had the problem with my Asus router, I changed browsers to get to the browser's web page. Worked every time

Thanks. Tried that as well - even tried a new laptop - without success.

I figured out that the error message is a result of caching (hence the wrong router model), and now it simply shows that their is a problem establishing a connection.

Any developments on these problems? I have two Telkom supplied routers doing exactly the same thing. At a point, one cannot access the router at all and even using ireless access fails.

The I have an HP printer that refuses to allow access to its default settings, and only works via USB. The same advice was listed for the printer -- access the settings via wireless but that also does not work. Every front panel trick fails as well.

These problems are all similar reporting the same basic error message as in this thread.
