Modulation: G.992.3 Annex L US Narrow

Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 174 / 1.309

Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 7,0 / 18,5

Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 39,0 / 63,0

SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 7,0 / 3,5

Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 740 / 0

FEC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 22.991.322

CRC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 334

HEC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 182

hey can anyone tell me if theres anything wrong with these numbers? im supposed to have a 4 mb connection and i get about 1.5 usually. so can anyone help me with this problem? thanks ! :)

SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 7,0 / 3,5 that is bad,

Try
1. Another Router
2. New Pots Filters
3. Check for noise on line by picking up telephone
4. Ask telkom to do a port reset
5. Do a tracert to any website you like

If nothing is different report it to telkom

Could be faulty cable/Water on cable/Exchange or Dslam or Congestion (if exchange can't handle having too many 4 meg lines)

i see. i dunno if this helps but my internet disconnects too when my phone rings. i use a splitter/filter but it still disconnects. and yeah there is some noise when i use the telephone. thanks for the answer anyway !

edit: i have tried many filter/splitters and it doesnt make a difference

Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 39,0 / 63,0 is pretty high too, test with having just the router (no splitter/filter/phone) connected to the wall. if improvement it's probably the filter.

Btw dem which city and area are you in also?

Modulation: G.992.3 Annex L US Narrow (thats meant to be Annex A/G.Dmt might be cause of the problem)

Oh ok that explains why its on that then :)

Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 39,0 / 63,0

thats way to high like they sed o.0 you need have 40 downlink and less with uplink, to be ok

With that kind of line attenuation you won't even be able to get a stable 1Mbps connection!

I would do as Srack0verflow & Merenwenrago suggested:
1) Remove all the filters, splitters and other telephone devices and connect the ADSL modem directly on the Telkom line
2) Ensure that the ADSL modem's modulation is set on G.Dmt
and then report back what your line attenuation and SNR margins are.

WOW those are some bad values !
Have you had them since the beginning of your ADSL experience ?

Also, if you where to throw a pipe bomb at the exchange would you be able to reach it or is it VERY far away ? :D

OP mentions noise is heard on the line. it would indicate a loose or corroded connection somewhere. one could hunt for it in your home, but chances are it's at the pole or junction box. in which case they must send someone out to come fix it because it's not legal to play with their propety outside your home. i wouldn't overload their tiny minds with saying anything about ADSL, just complain about hearing noise when you pick up the phone.

hey thanks ! but anyway ive tried many filters and it doesnt make a difference
the thing is my net disconnects when i pick up my phone when someone calls
and after it reconnects it becomes really good but if it disconnects it becomes ****ty again
and this keeps on happening...sometimes it doesnt disconnect though
also there is noise sometimes not always. again all these things happen randomly

atm i have these :

Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 0,0 / 19,5
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 23,5 / 46,0
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 21,0 / 14,5
