Yup unfortunately we just going to have to wait it out - they are working on the problem.

I originally suspected this to be a problem with the SAIX transparent proxy but other services are having problems as well.

Down here in Somerset West too. None of the international websites are working. When Koeberg is down, Telkom is up, when Koberg works, Telkom doesn't!!!

There is a cable break in Hongkong. Our International Provider technicians are investigating.

On a lighter note :-)

Apparently Mr. White is on vacation in HongKong learning the finer "martial arts" of deep sea fishing

... maybe he's aiming to join the Japanese on their scientific whale-hunting expeditions, too... (aka Screw the Whole Planet for Dummies)

Lol !

Is it just me or does Site : Rosebank go down all the time, it always seem to be posted as the issue !

Rosebank or Gallager Estates.

You would think they would of realised they have a problem by now and done something..

OK sorry somebody must of slipped something into my coffee because I do seem to be day dreaming again

This is great to find that its not just me. I was updating the PSP last night and it just all went slow and it was the first day of having the ADSL installed.

Thanks for the update

Gun

Yes there does appear to be problems on Intl ADSL access

I've been trying to access certain international sites the whole day without luck, some work some don't (such a Yahoo), fairly inconsistent.

I did some basic tests, and then called DataPro to verify. The support person said he'd been receiving a high number of calls with similar complaints. At the same time he explained it's another situation (typical of most ADSL related problems) where they are powerless to resolve and are waiting on Telkom.
No announcement to customers, no explanation, no resolution time frame, nothing!

I support what someone said earlier, you can ping the sites ok, so routing isn't an issue, but the web pages won’t load.

Sounds like content filtering issues on Telkom's side!!
1. most likely - mis-configurations (a.k.a. incompetence)
2. least likely - crappy technology
3. unlikely - intentional (concerning!!)

Telkom should really read the book "I was your customer" and read it carefully!!

I look forward to the day when:

1. ICASA gets some effective leadership and a nice new set of sharp effective teeth.
2. A foreign Telco (not mickey mouse SA originating) such a BT, Sprint, AT&T etc kicks Telkom's A$$.
3. We get more choice.
4. The definition of customer service gets listed in the South African dictionary.
5. More initiatives like MyADSL, CarteBlance and Special Assignment etc. exist to represent the consumer and expose what needs to be exposed.

:)

Since Telkom is lagging in everything else, I would guess they have the Y2K bug
I live in Rosebank area, and it seems to be the weakest link.
Happy Valentine's Day, Telkom!

Don’t you guys hate to see the message ... "Our technicians are investigating" LMAO ..
what are they investigating?

Why don’t they say “Our technicians are looking for spares” ….

what technicians? ….

the incompetent ******** don’t even have spares?
they are waiting for a replacement card? LMAO ... from where? The US? LMAO

What will the rest of the world think?
