Problems with a Galaxy S4 WIFI connection

Hi, looking for answers to my question about my Galaxy's S4 ( yeah aging like me, but performs 100% ) which a lot of the times fails to identify the IP address from my TP - Link router. Sometimes it takes ages to connect then disconnects. Now the person who lives in the cottage is with the same provider who has an open wifi connection ( he is not tech at all so I keep quiet..lol ) but a slower speed. Now my S4 connects to his Prolink-wnr1010 router with no problem even though the signal is weak and my S4 sometimes switches over automatically to connect to his router. So it can't be my phone that is faulty. My brother also sometimes has a problem with his S5 connecting to the TP - Link router.

Use the wifi app Wifi analyser and look for overlapping channels if there are none reset your router to factory and reconfigure.

Thanks for your reply. I think it could be the wifi extender which is in the passage as it seems to only happen in the bedroom.
