Problems with MKV playback in Media Center

Hi guys,

I recently upgraded my Media Center PC to Windows 7, and now, I am having an issue with MKV playback.

I installed the latest version of CCCP (Combined Community Codec Pack). Now, the really wierd part is that MKV files play flawlessly in Windows Media Player, but Media Center blatantly refuses to play the files...

Any ideas on what I can do do make it work?

haha, thanks Marine1 very helpful... but there are 2 reasons why that is not an option:
First, VLC's h.264 codecs (at least in v0.9.xxx) were much worse quality wise than CCCP.
Secondly, if I want to play them I can always use WMP, but as such Media center has a nice interface, and that is why I wanna use it...

Now any helpful suggestions on how to make Media Center play MKV files please

There's an app that checks what codecs media center uses for what files, and allows you to change them - can't recall what its called... or if it works in Win7...

I'll see if I can find it...

Buy the CoreAVC codec if you have an Nvidia card, it utilises CUDA H/W accelleration and works under all players - from MPC to WMP.
