Hi,

I have a SE 750i, Voda branded.

I run Opera Mini as well as a few other JAVA stuf on it (MXIT, Bombus, MidpSSH)

At times I swop my VC SIM for an MTN one (Service down... and it is cheaper using MTN prepaid data bundles)

I use the "internet" profile to access the internet for both Voda and MTN.

This works fine for downloading my mail with the built in mailreader, MXIT, Bombus and MidpSSH.

But it Opera Mini does not work like this with the MTN SIM.

When I change to VC again, Opera Mini works fine again.

Any suggestions to solve this?

Thanks

The Opera people keep playing with this. It used to be that you HAD to have the profile name as Internet or it wouldn't work. Then when you loaded Opera, it gave you a list of profiles to use at startup. I don't know how to trigger this menu once OM is installed. Perhaps you could download OM via PC and keep the file on your flashcard. Then you install OM over the existing one and the menu 'should' appear again.
Let me know if it works.

When you use the MTN sim have you checked the connection settings within Opera to enure its not hard coded to the Vodacom APN settings

If it's not that then I really don't know what else if could be

Opera Mini is not hard coded - in fact you have to tell it which profile to use when you start.

The phone is Voda branded, which means it comes with the Vodacom settings & profiles already written in. On the Euro k750, it is just a matter of removing some of the profiles (there are about 10 there) and replacing them with local ones. Could be that there isn't space for the new ones. What the local Voda (sneaky) sods do with it is anyone's guess.;)

I just wish all the networks would collaborate on a standard setting and stick to it.

It's impossible to remove the Voda profiles - maybe I should take it to Vodaworld for an upgrade to the generic SE firmware.

At least there is an "Intenet" APN that works for both VC and MTN.

PS: If you want to blow all gaskets, try Mascom GPRS in Botswana:mad:

Don't think this is the case, on my SE W800i at least, just specify which profile to use for all java apps in the phone settings and Opera Mini uses this one, whatever network it is or whatever its called. There's a new version of Opera Mini out anyway, maybe downloading that'll allow you to change the settings.

Have you managed to sort this out?

You don't need to remove any profiles. Just that the ones written there may confuse the issue and, if you are uinlucky, take up space so you can't add another.
If you request settings, the profile is sent to your phone. You then tell Opera you will be using that profile for browsing.
If you have the Virgin settings now in the phone ---you should be able to spot that vdata APN in the menu --- then download the new OM to your phone via PC and run it. It will setup in the right area and the OM will show you a list of profiles to choose from.
