I have an MTN 'phone under contract with an Afrihost data contract. I used a Knowroaming eSim (in a Pixel 4a; it supports one physical and one e- SIM) a while ago, licenced for a month to use in the UK and mainland Europe. I made the purchase on ZA and activated it on 22/8 before I left, although I knew it would not work here. It worked fine while I was away. I returned on 22/9 and the Knowroaming contract expired the next day. Since then I have been unable to use Afrihost data although the normal voice / SMS works fine.
Afrihost tell me they are unable to "provision" my 'phone because the MTN service tells them the number doesn't exist. When I tackle MTN, they tell me, in essence, that Afrihost are messing up because clearly the number does exist, refusing to acknowledge it's an MTN system that's producing the error. Neither party appears willing to talk directly to the other. My data contract is with Afrihost so it's their job to sort out this mess but they've refused to do so.
Has anyone had a similar experience, and solved it ? Hours on the 'phone and emails flying back and forth have not been effectual. Is there someone in Afrihost or MTN who actually cares about customer service ?
