Protected DVD ripping?

Slysoft AnyDVD with your fave ripper (I use a variety). It's AnyDVD which does the magic bit. I luckily bought a licence for $93 in 2007, with free lifetime upgrades, long before they went to the annual charge model.

Another vote for AnyDVD. Even helps with watching (like doing away with nonsense like software refusing to play protected disc over HDMI).

Busy converting the VOB files to MKV with Handbrake and the MKV files look better than the originals, way less noise!

In case you are wondering the source material is pretty old, a TV series from 1987 called Fortunes of War.

Gonna have to find 6hrs this weekend to watch it.

I need to rip a protected DVD movie, any advice on what software to use.

I recall there being a small utility that operates between the drive and the actual ripping software but cannot remember the name of it.

Edit: DVD Decrypter does not work.

Tried and tested "DVDSmith" and it is freeware.
