I currently own a PS2 and I'm considering buying a PS3, mainly because it's recommended (on this site!) as an awesome Blu-Ray player.
Will I be able to use my PS2 games in the PS3 console?
Does the PS3 come with a remote control, for easier use when watching Blu-Ray disks?
Anything else I should keep in mind?
I've recently bought a full HD LCD tv and I'm anxious to start watching stuff in improved display...

In order...

No
Yes, but you buy it as an extra.
Get proper HDMI cables :P

Which LCD tv did you buy?
If you bought a Sony Bravia, then you can use your tv remote for the PS3.
Else you need to buy the remote seperately.

1st gen PS/3 plays PS/2 games. So maybe look for a 2nd hand unit.

Awesome. Just googled it and only if your plugged in via HDMI, but then again why would you not.

Convinced wife on the need for a LCD and always liked the Sony. Now I've been convinced that it will only be a Sony

Rather not. But once you've played PS3 games you won't wanna go back to PS2.

But more importantly, the newer PS3 Slim is much more power efficient because of the newer improved design.

I bought a Samsung 32" - Series 5 530 LCD Tv.

Very nice TV!

You can use your PS3 controller as remote control for DVDs, no need to splash out more cash for a dedicated remote....and once you pop in a game, then the controller will be on the table in front of the TV in any case. :)
