PS3 Exclusives are Graphical Beasts!

Yes you are missing something!

Don't blame the hardware. Developers are not using the true potential of the PS3 inlike the XBox, its like programming for a pc so its much simpler.

Taking that Uncharted only used 30% of the PS3's ability, Uncharted 2 will probably be a show case piece. I am busy playing Uncharted and must say it looks good. In terms of graphics and gameplay, GTA4 should have taken some of those factors found in Uncharted.

When do you think they're going to learn how to develop for it?

I remember after launch in 2006, people cried the same thing. Also in 2007, 2008 and 2009. Perhaps next year though ...

For Multiplats, it will probably not happen. But developers are already taking advantage of the PS3 on exclusives. Unless they make multiplats native to the PS3 and port to x360. But that as you know will probably not happen because the other way is alot easier.
 
Why is it that the only games we ever hear about on the PS3 are Uncharted, Killzone 2 and Gran Turismo?

I have a Xbox and Wii, but I'm just not sold on the PS3. I've seen Uncharted on a friends PS3 and it looked good. But I've seen similar on the Xbox. Same with racing games. On the xbox I have Forza 2 (soon 3), Dirt 1 & 2, Grid etc. Lots to choose from, but I only hear about GT on PS3. My point is, there's A LOT of good games on the xbox, but it looks like not so much on the PS3.

Then there's the whole Natal thing coming which looks awesome. I still haven't seen a good reason to buy a PS3?

I owned a PS2 and PSP before, so nothing against Sony. ;)

Uh huh ...

My Sega Mega Drive was also running at a few percent of it's real potential (10% IIRC). No one knew how to actually unleash it's full might. It's a pity they stopped making and developing for it though - I'm pretty sure by now it'd be running on par with Uncharted at around 60% of it's ability :/

Oh well.

Uncharted 2 will apparently use 100% of the PS3's ability

WRT that Resi 5 Xbox screen comment... Thats what it looks like on my 22" LCD, so it aint a bullshot ;)

I suppose because those are the exclusives that show what the PS3 is capable of, and not some random half job port, that fanboys like to use as a VS comparison between consoles.

Besides, from the Xbox camp , all i hear is Gears of war, forza and Oh yes Gears of war.

And here I thought that to compare the same game on different consoles would be the perfect way to determine which console to get? What am I missing here?

Or are you saying that games that comes out on both consoles, are better on the xbox, and only exclusives are good on the PS3?

That's exactly what i'm saying, but is it "fair" to compare a multiplat between the 2 consoles, when the multiplat was developed for the Xbox and just ported across to the PS3.

When i got my Xbox 360, it came with 20 or so old School games pre installed on the HDD : eg, dig dug ,pac man type of games.

So the fact that this dig dug game on the Xbox looks exactly the same as the dig dug i played on my golden china nintendo 15 years ago, they are equal?
 
I think the point everyone here's trying to make is that most multiplats are slightly better on the xbox when technical testing is done. (read: not noticeable to the naked eye). Which in turn means its only relevant to the fanboys who harp on about their trees in GTAIV which have 5 more leaves on...;)
Yes, PS3 exclusives look fantastic, but to me it's not even about that. It's the fact that the PS3 is producing brilliant exclusives, one after hte other, while the 360's producing exclusives, each one seemingly worse than its predeccessor.

But you're comparing 2 systems where the game looks exactly the same on both? That's not what I'm saying.

The point is that these games are not the same on the 2 consoles. From what I've read the same game is normally better on the Xbox. And since most games comes out on all platforms, isn't it better to then rather get a xbox instead of a PS3?

Up to your preference of games. The differences between the multiplats, barring a few crappy ports, are negligible at best. If you scrutinise every single texture in multiplats (considering you have both consoles, and the same game for each console, doing a frame by frame analysis with a magnifying glass), and you prefer the 360 exclusives, then that's the console for you...

Valkyria Chronicles, Demon's Souls, inFamous, Little Big Planet, Metal Gear Solid 4, Motorstorm, Rachet & Clank, Resistance. Those I actually liked. But the main thing is to also look at the bunch of exclusives being released. :D

So what was the last 360 exclusive worth playing? Fable 2...and that was quite a while back...and it wasn't brilliant by any stretch of the imagination.

Or did you enjoy Ninja Blade? Or Velvet Assassin? Or Last Remnant? Or Champions Online? Or Star Ocean 4? Need i go on?
