PS3 Exclusives are Graphical Beasts!

But you're comparing 2 systems where the game looks exactly the same on both? That's not what I'm saying.

The point is that these games are not the same on the 2 consoles. From what I've read the same game is normally better on the Xbox. And since most games comes out on all platforms, isn't it better to then rather get a xbox instead of a PS3?

I understand what you are saying, and yes one could say that because multiplats are better on the Xbox, its a better console to get.

My point is though, people like to use this multiplat saga as proof that one console is more powerfull and advanced then the other just because the game looks slightly better on the one.

When infact its the way/how a game has been developed and for which console it was developed for.

If you are basing your decision on which is the better console in terms of multiplats, x360. If you are looking at features, PS3. If you are looking at exclusives, PS3. If you are looking at price alone, x360 ARCADE ONLY. If you are looking at value for money, PS3.

Ok, so I was bored and decided to do a little test. ;)

I took all the games on IGN for both platforms with a score of 9 and higher. I then removed all the games which appeared on both consoles with the same score range (9 and higher). So this is basically all the great games on each console, that you either don't get on the other, or that doesn't score as good on the other console.

Uh huh ...

My Sega Mega Drive was also running at a few percent of it's real potential (10% IIRC). No one knew how to actually unleash it's full might. It's a pity they stopped making and developing for it though - I'm pretty sure by now it'd be running on par with Uncharted at around 60% of it's ability :/

Oh well.

You still using a Mega Drive?

Now I see what your problem is!

Only because it's running at a fraction of it's ability ... I'm just waiting a developer to unlock the potential. Very similar situation to my brothers PS3, actually.

lol, that's why I still have my Nintendo.... one of these days... ;)

Lol, dude, spin the stats all you like if it makes you feel better. But thanks for the pseudo stats anyways. Was quite interesting to note that basically the whole PS3 list consists of exclusives. ;)

How did I "spin the stats"???

Ok, you do know now Metacritic works right? A multiplat game can be reviewed by 20 different sites for one version, and 50 different sites for another. You'll still get an aggregate of course, but if the 360 version scored87% and the PS3 version 86% you discount it? Yup, you're spinning the stats alright.

And you still haven't answered my question. What was the last 360 exclusive you enjoyed?

Metacritic gets an aggregate score to most of the known reviewers as IGN is only one point of view. Kerrrang makes a good point that the assumption that one reviewer says all is also statistically bias.

Excuse my ignorance, but what does Metacritic have to do with that list and spinning the stats???

I missed that question. But to be honest, I really don't care about exclusives. I normally check reviews, if it gets good scores, then I normally buy it. Obviously I would like to play Uncharted & Uncharted 2, but when I looked for a console, the Xbox had more games that I wanted to play than the PS3.

One question, does Metacritic take reviews from Pro PS3 sites aswell or just from ign, gamespot and the llikes? i mean that would some what level the playing field.;)

Metacritic takes reviews from all recognised reviewers whether you like IGN, Gamespot, Eurogamer, etc and gets an aggregate score. They are not pro Xbox or PS3.

Perfect, so then I can use Metacritic as reference. :)

Just did the same exercise on Metacritic.

Hopefully I didn't "spin the stats" again...

Well, the whole discussion was initiated around exclusives, so i still don't see the point in naming multiplats, and even discounting them if it scored a little less than its counterpart.

And you still haven't answered the question...what was the last 360 exclusive you played (and enjoyed). Oh right, i guess there isn't any. ;)

OK! So PS3 wins then! :)

The multi platform games came up when we discussed why to buy a PS3, when most of the games are multi platform and better on the xbox. See the point now?

oh wait, selective reading on your side?

Sony’s PS3 is said to have 13 percent of its titles rated 85 or higher, while the Xbox 360 has 10 percent.

oooooh, 3%

did you read further?

keep in mind that the PS3 has not been out on the market long enough yet to pick up all the crappy games. Once the PS3 reaches mid-life crisis stage, the console will pick up at least 20 different iterations of Sponge Bob shovelware games.

And like I said, I read reviews, so unless a game gets a good review, I'm not going to buy it. Looking at reviews (from various sites), there are more GREAT games (90% +, or even 80% +) on the Xbox than on the PS3.
