Console fanboys are probably the only people who would have sufficient information to see the false claim and be able to refute it, by the words of the councillor themselves. Can you refute a claim by a soap manufacturer if you don't know soap? So stop sulking and accept it. The ASA, the legal consumer watchdog found the Ad a misrepresentation, not the 360 fanboys, not you.

And as far as your "who ****ing cares goes", maybe if you actually read the explanations that have been posted a dozen times on the site alone you'd get it.

Don't have a PS3 yet. Not done building my house yet, decided to buy a PS3 and HDTV as a "present" to myself when it's done.

Yup, I'm browsing the PS3 forums cause I'm going to buy one soon. No idea what all the 360 fanboys are doing in the PS3 threads though? Not enough going on with the 360's games? ;-)
 
I wonder what are PS3 fanboys doing who dont even own a PS3 yet. Sigh...

Well in that case why are you browsing this thread? This thread is about CNA and its PS3 ads. But just because it was the "360 fanboys" who blew the whistle on it you decided to do some pot stirring in good old trolling fashion. Just to piss people off and see how they react. Very mature.

And anyway weren't you gonna buy the Wii when it came out? That's what you said anyway. Or are you gonna buy both now?
 
Maybe he will browse the forums and it will be as close to a HDTV & PS3 he will close enough until the PS4 is out?

You know Santa is coming in Dec, want his no. by any chance?

It's new about the PS3, that's why I'm following it.

On a more serious note, why is it that some 360 owners follows the PS3 threads post to post? I'm not being sarcastic or trying to make fun of them, just curious. This forum has a whole sub-forum for the 360, yet they're still following every post on the PS3 threads. I know I'll never buy a 360, so I'm not even going to bother to read about it, I thought it would be the same for people who will NEVER buy a PS3.

And yes, as soon as I can get a Wii locally, I'll buy it. :)
 
Man this has been derailed :D, My excuse is that I write a gaming blog...

I would love to have all 3 consoles, why don't you want a Xbox 360? It's a fantastic machine....

Not taking sides here, but one reason for browsing other threads is to gain a better insight and overall understanding and thereby have a well rounded opinion on matters not restricted only to one's personal interests.

Then any future choice / purchase can be based on investigated findings and not purely on brand loyalty and knee-jerk reactions (aka impulse buying) :)

Agreed, if that's the reason for doing it. But most 360 owners are just here to look for something bad to say about the PS3.
 
I'm the one who lodged the complaint and the moment the PS3 price becomes respectable and I have the cash I'll be first inline. I actually take slight offense to being called a Fanboy but to each his own.

I'm a gamer and I would kill to play MGS4! I'm sure PS3 will get other exclusives but at the moment thats all I want on PS3 so it doesn't justify buying it now cause the game is nowhere near release yet.
 
This is OT but I don't understand the price of the console. If you buy from Singapore, you get it for S$799 which is roughly R4500. If you get it from the US, you get it for around R4800. Why R6300 here? It's not like we are a rich country or anything.

We seem to be in a region called EMEA (Europe Middle East and Africa) which a lot of organisations use.
I can understand a markup for shipping, but they do go overboard most of the time.
 
Generally I'd prefer to stay out of this sort of thing, but seeing as my name was mentioned in the article ( L.Goller ) I'd like to just clear somethings up.

1. I'm not a fanboy of anything and actually have hardly posted on the local Xbox site in the last few months.

2. Lazygamer / GavinMinnion, in your article you say "hardcore Xbox 360 gamers". I'm not sure where you get that from either. You don't know me. Please don't assume things about me. I manage to sneak in a few hours a week of gaming at best.

3. I also had nothing to do with sending news tips in on any of this. Not sure where people came across this, maybe by digging through the ASA site rulings.

This all started I think when someone posted a link to a PreOrder of the PS3 at CNA. I read the stats on the site and in jest mentioned that other users should consider submitting a complaint. After thinking about it, I submitted one myself.

5. Why did I submit a complaint? C'mon guys, me even having to explain this again is beyond me. Can anyone here, specifically the guys calling me childish/pathetic/fanboy honestly really say those claims weren't hopelessly exaggerated. I don't think so. Who knows maybe someday these claims can be proven, but for now at least they aren't.

To be totally honest it touched a nerve. It could well have been an oversight, someone at SK providing CNA with outdated marketing material, or a malicious attempt to garner sales by leveraging on local brand loyalty and the general population not being very tech savvy. I don't know, that's speculation.

At the end of the day though, you can't just claim whatever you want to. Can you imagine what advertising would be like if everyone just spun whatever they saw fit to dupe you out of your hard earned cash, only to find out once you've paid for it that it wasn't actually true. There a million analogies for this, make up your own one.

Lastly, do I own an Xbox 360, yes. Do I love my Xbox 360, sure it's a great product, it exceeded my expectations actually.

Would I ever get a PS3, not anytime soon, not at that price and not for any of those games. I owned many PSX's, PS2's. In fact I paid 4.5K in 2001 when the first PS2's hit our shores. The laser broke within 3 months.

Hell I might even get a Wii for my two kids someday.

Bottom line is guys, quit the speculation and name throwing thanks. The advertising material needed to be removed because there IS no evidence to prove otherwise.
