So why have two PS2's but no failures?
Your hate for Sony still seems illogical when you've already listed more products from them without issues, versus one with issues.
Not to mention the problem might not even be Sony's. What's to say load shedding or lightning didn't kill it?
Just send it back, get a new one and stop moaning.
