PS4 vs Xbox One

Another thing I've noticed is that with Xbox Live you get better free games each month. With the PS4 it's mainly your low profile and indie titles, with the odd big budget games. On Live you get the big budget games more frequently, and the annual subscription is ~R500 and opposed to ~R700 for PSN...

All I'm really seeing is people that got 360 are getting pissed off at how well the PS4 is doing.
Not really, they seem to be making rational arguments. I have both and the One is actually a great device. 3 months ago I wouldn't have said that because I only had a PS4, but that's because I never actually used a One so I wasn't in a great position to compare...

Because you don't need it. We're two years into the new gen already. Absolutely no reason to backwards.

Xbone are scrambling to build up goodwill after their **** ups.

I would beg to differ , backwards compatibility is a huge plus for me as a parent.
Buying games for my kids (which are not as bothered as the older generation about the latest and greatest) at R500 for two Xbox 360 games vs R1000 for XBox One premium Games.

How much digital content do you own on the 360?

If you own a lot the logical choice would be going for the Xbox One.

Even physical stuff for that matter, since most of the games will become backward compatible soon.

if you a hardcore gamer then my answer would of been PS4 but Microsoft is developing an ecosystem with Windows 10 and that includes XBone, I would suggest the XBone especially if you are already a windows user

Yebo, this is what I am looking forward to. The new UI opens up the door for developers to easily port their apps from PC to the console

Yes, and you don't need a R1500 controller to do it.

Look it's obvious you've made your allegiance already. Don't think there's more to discuss.

Well, your wrong. I agree the ps4 is a far superior gaming console, for now. But when I want to do some real gaming, I go with the master race PC

I looked to see if there is off the shelf map able controllers but can only find modded ones. Can you point me in the right direction.

Not sure why 360 owners would be mad about ps4 doing well? Can you elaborate?

Also, you don't need R1500 controller for Xbox to remap, MS already said all controllers will be remap able.

That's the thing. The backward compatibility is a bit of a cheat. The game needs to be ported with permission from the developer. When you insert the disc, the ported version is downloaded , but you still need the disc for validation. The launch list of compatible games is quite small, but I'm sure it will grow over time. Sony could have done the same thing but didn't, they are missing a huge opportunity.

I have both and like both. I usually get cross-plat games on the PS4 though. You won't go wrong either way.

For your situation I would consider the Xbox One, especially with backwards compatibility coming next month...

This!

With backward compatibility there'll be plenty of games to keep your kid busy.

Why the hell would I want to play old schit?

That's one thing I also don't understand, though with the kid he doesn't mind 10 year old games.

Will the Xbox One be 100% backward compatible as in just inserting the disk and play?

One of the reasons I personally am leaning over to the xb1 is Forza 6.

No, not all games are backwards compatible. The publishers have to give permission

Xbox One with Kinect for a 9 year old. Kids get the most fun out of that also the console and controllers seems more durable than the PS4's. You might want to check what consoles his friends are using if he plans on swapping games. Backwards compatibility is another huge factor especially since there are many cheaper kid friendly games available on the XBox 360.

You can't swop games with XBONE. The games come with a key you have to register to your account. You can give a buddy the disc but he has to buy it too to play.
