PS5

I spoke to an employee at Koodoo earlier today. He assured me that they have met all obligations to all of their clients with regards to ps5 deliveries.

At this point I am unsure of who is telling the lies.
Jump onto SAGamer and have a read for yourself. One moment Koodoo is communicating no Digitals received, then next Digitals to be received on Wed and then within a few hours confirmation from a few users they've collected their Digitals today.

Something is fishy here.

I went passed a games4u and a makro yday and they both had the headsets in stock so try physical stores not online stores and phone in advance for incase
Thanks just phoned games4u and no stock across stores. Trying to get through to Makro is a dead end.. might have to take a drive

From what I have seen on twitter and sagamer, it seems like Koodoo have been delivering pre orders place on their store since yesterday. It seems like they have gone out of their way to make sure that some of the deliveries were done yesterday. Also allowing individual collections today. Weird flex but ok.

Having said that, it also seems like they have delayed the release of stock to retailers like Makro, Takealot, BT Games, etc. But why would they want to do this?

Seeing that the RRP is R13k, they would have to sell it at a much lower price to the other retailers. Lets say R10k delivered to the retailer. Now, via their online store, they are selling the units for R13k - making for example, an additional R3k profit per unit sold. Maybe they are trying to create the impression that everyone would be better off if we bought direct from them. Doing this in an attempt to drive more traffic and sales directly to their site in the future.

Managed to snag the last PS5 headset at Makro Woodmead. Literally the last one that the dude searched for in the back

Incredible Corruption still has this bundle. Costs a bit more but comes with an extra controller and your choice of one game...

I suspect you might be onto something. It's quite clear that Koodoo are not communicating the situation accurately to their retailer customers, with some being told that stock has not arrived, some being told that Digital stock has not arrived and is on some "other ship" arriving this week. We of course know this isn't the case and only Koodoo's direct customers have received their orders thus far (both models)

I reckon they've taken too many pre-orders in total and are buying time to ensure that their direct customers are serviced first before they release stock to other retailers.

Makro say that they are still waiting for an update from their supplier but dont have stock. By supplier, I assume that they mean Koodoo. I don't understand how the company with the biggest buying power in SA will not have their stock yet. With all the misinformation coming from Makro, I am beginning to suspect that there is something very dodgy happening their side with regards to the ps5's.
The whole situation surrounding this drop is just ridiculous honestly

The way this drop has been handled is ridiculous. I do not know who to believe anymore. I bought directly from koodoo and have yet to receive my digital edition.

But yet some people can collect.

They even offered some people ultimatums regarding their digital edition consoles. Wait until it comes or get a refund.

It's not so much the waiting for the device to arrive. Its the lack of communication.

Is this for the disk version? It doesn't say Digital version, just trying to make 100% sure. Been wanting to get the disk version one for my nephew. Would be great if I could buy it here in Singapore and ship it over as it's about R5k cheaper, but shipping isn't the most reliable lately for obvious reasons.

Edit : Can't add it to the cart anyway, so seems whatever stock they had has already been sold.

I wonder why Koodoo is the company handling distribution of the PS5 as Sony in South Africa always used Ster Kinekor as I believe they have the contract to handle all Sony's consoles/games. Did not know that changed. It is still a mess thought. PS5 drop 3 from Takealot and still no email/sms or anything. Has anybody contacted Takealot for an update on drop 3? Was hoping to get the console before Christmas but doubt that is going to happen.

Koodoo is Gamefinity who were previously called Ster Kinekor

Anyone used a PS 5 controller on a PC ? Need to buy a new controller and might just invest in a PS 5 one as I want to get a ps 5 late next year

Anybody have the link to SAGamer to the thread discussing Koodoo? Want to read up a bit on it.

Edit: Found it.

Just got off the line with a Makro call center lead. He informed me that they have received the stock at the distribution center and will be dispatching to stores. Not sure how true this is though.

Stores will have stock on hand? As far as I know, Marko was shipping directly to clients and not sending to stores?

honestly how can PS5 stock not be readily available in South Africa by now? The demand cant be THAT high, and if it is, why hasn't it been catered for by now? It's crazy.

It is a worldwide shortage. But I remember seeing that their aim was 3 million consoles distributed by end December which they achieved, and 10 million by March 2021 so there will be a lot of consoles and probably be in store by then.
