Still waiting on the 2nd drop from Makro... hoping for sometime this week!
 
Hoping that since Koodoo has their stock of the 2nd drop the other retailers will also get it today.

I am with Takealot and delivery date is still the 31st of December. They have previously had a disclaimer that it's just a placeholder though.

I must have missed the placeholder part. It always just said, Date TBC and that was it. If it does not ship out by the 31st, what do you plan to do? Cancel and try somewhere else? What if it takes 3 months to get to you? What if you never get it?

That is what is running through my mind. lol
 
Info received via the grapevine: Apparently those who ordered the Digitial edition in the 2nd batch will be disappointed as it seems only Standards were received.

Yeah, the placeholder info wasn't there initially but appeared in the product description when more units became available. I can't remember the exact wording. But it was something along the lines of "the date 31st is just a placeholder, we are expecting stock in mid to late December." Something like that.

Might be some truth to this. Koodoo customer support says that Digital Edition consoles will only be sent out next week Monday (28th of December)

Just collected My PS5 at the warehouse in Sandton. It was initially set for delivery but I received a call from Kodoo at 1pm on whether to deliver or would I prefer to collect from 3pm onwards today. Opted for collection.
edit: while waiting for my console to be picked, I seen a pallet of consoles. A container truck was getting ready to leave the warehouse. They were not packed in the Kodoo boxes, but probably the shipping boxes. The part numbers making up the pallet comprised of cfi-1016a and cfi-1016b. So there are digital ps5's in this second drop.

Makro say that they are still waiting for an update from their supplier but dont have stock. By supplier, I assume that they mean Koodoo. I don't understand how the company with the biggest buying power in SA will not have their stock yet. With all the misinformation coming from Makro, I am beginning to suspect that there is something very dodgy happening their side with regards to the ps5's.

Not just them. A couple of other sellers too. The one I'm dealing with informed me that his supplier indicated that no Digitals were received, but as we see above that is not the case.

Perhaps certain sellers have preference over others?

So Koodoo (Gamfinity) are the suppliers. But they seemed to have prioritized their own customers first before supplying Makro, Takealot etc.

I wouldn't be surprised if they are supplying friends and family on the side who did not pre-order.

Me neither.

But I still think the Takealot batch I ordered from is the 3rd wave and not 2nd. But I'll be happy to be proven wrong

I spoke to an employee at Koodoo earlier today. He assured me that they have met all obligations to all of their clients with regards to ps5 deliveries.

At this point I am unsure of who is telling the lies.
