PS5

Yeah that was kinda dumb move if you ever seen one, well that and their openly "DEI" drive.

Kinda remind me of the Dumb TV, TV, TV drive all over again...

To be fair, XB sales have been tanking since the start of this gen. They are bringing games to PS5 because it's tanking, not the other way around.

It does make all those "Sony can kiss everything goodbye" comments pre ABK merger funnier tho :P

To be honest I don't play ps5 at all. I got the digital version biggest mistake. They just don't have the same subs to get new games like Xbox/PC. When I see people enjoy PS5 I know they are rich because it's not cheap to get the new games where with xbox/pc I get a fair size of decent new games with a game pass ultimate and ubosoft+ sub.

That said I'm really keen to get into ps5 gaming because it was expensive to buy and literally gather a dust layer on top.
There's plenty to play on PS+...

Will they be there next week though? Are you sure?

It's not about pixels. It's about what was done before an exchange of money and what was done after.

Its about a company bragging on twitter how their R18 game is uncensored just 4 days ago yet here we are and it is censored today 4 days later.

I'm not playing the game. I'm not invested in it. I game on PC. I can see 2B ass playing Sekiro.

I simply find it funny how easily sheeple are won over nowadays.

Yes it's an issue of false advertising.

And the Hard R thing is beyond stupid. Apparently now it's CRIME and the R so it's CRIMER which apparently is also racist in America.

As for the sexualisation, there is virtually none in this game. The girl's skin tight outfits are not sexualised. She's not being sexualised. There is one split second panty somesault if you kill an enemy form behind with the assassinate skill but that's nothing compared to games like Onechanbara games Sony sells. It's so fast you don't even see it.

I thought that people were overexaggerating the sexual woke criticism of the game, and now I know it's true. This game could get a family rating. So far, 30% into the game and I don't see anything lewd here. The dialogue is also not suggestive. I don't know what sort of mental challenges the Anglo writers at Kotaku et al have but honestly maybe it's the Millennials or Gen X who are poorly educated and all soy boys at heart.

Actually in the game we don't know that she is straight. There is no romance in this game. And the male character hasn't made any sexual remarks to her, well as of 30% into the game. She also doesn't make any sexual commentary.

She does reminisce about Tachy occasionally so you could either see that as (sister) brother-in-arms sort of feelings, survivor guilt or maybe a subtle foretelling of shoujo-ai (lesbian) love which could have emerged. But the girl is non sexual. There are no relationships in this game. Some NPCs have relationships such as being married but not with Eve.

There are two currents in the woke war, actually 3. There is the male gaze/feminist thing, there is the LGBT thing and there is an anti-racist thing. I suppose body positivity could be No 4. In terms of this game it's the sexualisation and the body thing and they tried to bring in racism into it with the Hard R nonsense.

This game does not sexualise Eve. You could play this game with your grandma. I think if Eve was dressed up in baggy clothes, like a US marine, she would have been OK for these game journos.

Game journos are imbeciles though. Instead of focusing on this they should focus on accessibility. I was able to clear the parts which had difficult platforming or parkour, but some people may not be able to. And there is nothing you can do about that. Because in a boss fight you can learn the moves, you can grind up and optimise your kit, and the heart item gives you one free respawn at full health in the boss fight, but if you can't do some silly jump, you're stuck. That's it. The game should allow for improved timings on that, the way they provide a story mode, they should provide that as well. That's a blindspot that devs have. That's what Kotaku should be looking into and not game aesthetics. But then all those people at Kotaku at al are useless and poorly educated.

I’m sure the kotaku hit piece on SB is incoming. Surprised there isn’t one already but I might have missed it as I don’t read their drivel anyway. I haven’t read it personally but the washingtonpost reviewer actually defended the game as he’s Korean.

Not only that but XBox games run better on PS5 as well

Another First-Party Xbox Game Seems to Run Better on PS5

Reminiscent of shortcomings with prior first-party titles on Xbox, the latest Microsoft game to arrive on PS5 features a noticeable improvement.

Hi-Fi Rush was recently released on PlayStation 5, where an analysis identified the game to be running slightly better than on Xbox. Despite being a first-party Xbox title, Hi-Fi Rush continues a trend of such releases either performing worse or lacking features on Xbox Series X when compared to the PS5 launch.

Digital Foundry, who provide respected technical analysis of video games and adjacent hardware, concluded that while the PS5 ostensibly received a "carbon copy" of Hi-Fi Rush, which features "matching textures... and world detail," the newer version boasts superior shadow quality compared to the Xbox original. The difference is not insignificant either, applying "across all of the game's dynamic shadows" and offering a more refined image. Further testing conducted by Digital Foundry discovered that this was likely not caused by the console hardware itself, as maximum shadow quality on PC, whether that be via Steam or the Microsoft Store, matched the Xbox version. It is reminiscent of Ghostwire: Tokyo, another Tango Gameworks title, that was released as a timed exclusive for PS5 but still performed worse on Xbox consoles a year later.

Anyone doubting Mark Cerny does so at their own peril I suppose :p

Odd that both games mentioned are from same developer, makes you think it may be a studio issue rather than hardware concern.

Ghostwire: Tokyo for Xbox Series X|S appears to be facing very similar performance issues that the PS5 version once faced during its own launch.

PS5 also has performance issues with other cross games though, Grounded for example it really is performing worse. (https://www.eurogamer.net/digitalfoundry-2024-grounded-ps5-tech-review-vs-switch-and-series-x-s):

Resolution:

XSX: 1512p - 2160p (usually closer to 1512p))
XSS: 1026p - 1080p (mostly 1080p)
PS5: 1080p - 1215p (mostly 1215p

Performance:

XSX: Stable 60fps with the odd one-frame drop
XSS: Even more stable 60fps with even rarer one-frame drops
PS5: 60fps in parts but often drops to the 50s and can go to 45fps

Alrighty...

Fallout 4 with the next-gen patch is available for PS+ Extra and Premium. It's super fun playing from the start again
Played for a few hours on quality mode with on my 120Hz oled, ran at 40FPS according to the reviews. Very happy with the upgrade, looks and runs great.

My suggestion is that if you plated previously, start over as I tried to load up my last save and even though it worked, having last played 4 years ago, it didn't feel immersive. Going through the loops and pains of levelling up while understanding the stories is what makes Fallotut great.

Anybody on PS+ (Extra or Premium) managed to download Fallout 4 with next-gen update?

Not sure the status, getting conflicting posts all over saying it's not available, but then some are saying it's not available only for PS+ Essential.

PS: I would check but wife hogging the TV.
I started playing the PS4 version on Thursday, only like an hour in. Then realised the PS5 version is out, and I could download it. Seems like a fun game, balancing it between PUBG and CP2077 :)

No need to mock the guy. PSN gaming is an expensive hobby. I myself switched to PC because spending 4k a month on 3 games was stupid thinking about it.

You are not playing day 1 releases on PSN sub.

Microsoft is nurturing a whole generation of non-payment gamers. Go look up how well that is working for them.

To be fait I finished AC Mirage in 2 days and now almost complete with Game+ Nothing left I even finished all those pointless contracts. I loved it. 1 month of Ubisoft+ is R209 on Xbox.com and gave me access to finish it. When/if a DLC gets released can play that also because Ubisoft+ gets the deluxe edition .

The same game which I would have loved to play on my PS5 is R1200 now not sure what it was on release day. Very expensive. With ubisoft+ on xbox.com I had access to xbox one version, xbox series version, pc and cloud gaming like GeForce Now. I'm not saying it's better it's essentially the very same thing just cheaper.

If you buy a Monster energy from Pep or from Woolworths it's the same thing one is just cheaper than the other.
